I can see that. Not sure I agree with the move, but it's the only logical explanation I've seen so far.

EDIT: Quote as to why Nieves what starting over Lucroy.

Well that didn't work. Yo had a rough outing and Nieves is 0-3 with 2 left on.

.....while Lucroy is tearing the cover off the ball...and sits on the bench.

Wow, Gomez bunts a lot better when he swings.

No bat flip for him on that swing?

I can't wait til he gets one in the ribs for doing his bat flip on one of his 295 foot fly balls.
He's cocky for no good reason.

Yo has been very good for four seasons. It seems doubtful that he's suddenly a "head case," whatever that means. He's just not pitching well. It happens.

But you can see he's not attacking hitters as he has in the past. I've seen more 4-pitch walks from him this year than in all year's combined, it seems. The problem is he pitches like a guy whose fastball tops out at 87 as opposed to 94-95 mph.

I agree, he tries to nibble. He shouldn't need a guy who needs pin point command to get by. I remember outings last year and the year before where Yo didn't have his best stuff, but he kept battling, and kept them in the game. This year he just implodes, and seems almost scared to throw the ball over the plate.

Agreed on those points, and it's more fair than throwing a term like "headcase" out there.

Braddock came in to face Heyward who he walked. Was completely over throwing, fell behind 3-1 to chipper and then had to take some off to throw a 90 mph FB right down the middle. Falls behind Uggla who he walks, then gives up a SF to Freeman on a ball so shallow that I could have thrown it to the plate in the air but Gomez bounces it off the mound.

This is what a good baseball discussion looks like.

yuck. pretty poor performance all around...those games are always so depressing. Not good to be in a funk like this so early into a long road trip...things can really snowball on trips like this. hopefully they turn it around tomorrow because they know they can't play like this when I get my one chance to see them live
