The brewers on sat and sunday looked terrible bad defense and another dad outing for Naverson better Option Estrada?. The hitting has just been terrible if Prince or Braun don't hit this team is terrible . Hopefully soon the the Gomez in the 2 spot will be done very soon.

Just imagine how much better our infield defense would look if we had a 1B that could scoop balls.
Very true. Hopefully Gamel can learn to scoop balls, because that alone will make our defense a lot better. I think people fail to realize the importance of having a good defensive 1B, and tend to blame everything on the rest of the infield.

Casey could win a batting title if he wasn't Molina-slow. Jesus, I'd guess he costs himself 20 hits a season.
It seems like every time he hits a groundball the play at first should be close, but then I remember that McGehee is running and watch him get thrown out by 6 steps.

I am not really trying to stick up for our infield because overall they are still pretty poor but if Fielder could scoop balls better it would make them all look better. Fielder also has no range so if Gamel can scoop balls not only will our defense at 1B improve, our defense at all the infield positions will improve. Really should lessen the impact when Fielder leaves. Not offensively of course.

Fan is short for fanatic.

I blame Wang.

Logan, I can't fault Fielder for missing the Mitre throw since it was into the runner...but any avg defender at least gets a glove on the the McGehee throw. Casey did as he was supposed to...got to a touch ball, planted his feet, made a strong throw, and kept it low (since the tendency is to backfoot the throw and airmail it). In-between hop or not, Fielder should have at least touched it, and any professional 1st baseman should have completed the play.

I can't be 100% certain, but I think Gamel is leading the PCL in Fielding % for 1st Basemen. He most certainly won't be a defensive liability at first when he replaces Prince. He played a hell of the third as well. His issue was always with his throws more than his range and glove.

disappointing losses this weekend after a great promising start on Friday. Oh, well.

I really thought that this Brewers team could have been one of those teams that wasn't shut out all season or until September or something. Darn. What a cruddy way to go into a 4-gamer with Atlanta, too.

If Hart gets going and playing even mediocre, that's a huge boost. With Morgan back soon and splitting time in CF, That would give us a pretty good 7 hitters (Lucroy as 7th),
