The April Awards Thread

Community Moderator

Now that April is over, tell us who how you saw it, I'll go with...

MVP

Ryan Braun - In 26 games, Mr Braun scored 24 and drove in 23....wow. Braun's 10 HR tie him for the league lead, he threw in three steals, and batted .367.

Jose Bautista - 25 runs, 9 HR, .366, with 4 steals.

Cy Young

Josh Johnson - 3 Wins isn't sexy, but how about that .88 ERA and .71 WHIP?!

Jered Weaver - 6 Wins, 49 Ks, .99 ERA, .79 WHIP

Surprise Team of the Month

Florida - You decide how much you can really learn in a month, but for the moment, they've stuck themselves right in the middle of the NL playoff picture.

"Cleveland Rocks" 18-8, just like we all thought they'd be.

Surprise Player

Lance Berkman - Berkman took a .402 average into the last game of the month; he finished the month at .393, with 8 HR, 23 runs and 22 driven in.

Surprise Pitcher

Kyle Lohse - 4 Wins, a 1.64 ERA, and a .73 WHIP

Best Team

Philadelphia - This is a tough call, but I like the Phillies in the NL. At 18-8, they can score, and they can stop you from scoring.

Indians - They weren't just a surprise, they led the AL in scoring, and they've allowed the 4th fewest runs in the league.

Biggest Disappointment - This one is Boston. Picked by everyone to be dominant, the Sox are in last place in their division, and their offense outscored exactly two teams in the league - Minnesota and Oakland. Basically, the Red Sox had Baltimore's offense for the month.

Worst Team in Baseball - It was the Twins. At 9-17, the Twins have the fewest wins in baseball for the month (two teams won 10, both of those teams played one more game). It really was that bad...their 82 runs scored leads only San Diego. The 139 runs allowed ties the Diamondbacks, while leading only Houston and the White Sox.

How do you see it?
