Mrs. ARod offends New Yawkers with obscene t-shirt

Recommended Posts

When starting a thread, the first post should contain more than just a link.

Here's a sample of what might have been written?

-----------------------------------

Cynthia Rodriguez, ARod's wife, drew a lot of attention yesterday by showing up at Yankee stadium yesterday wearing a t-shirt with an obscenity printed on the back.

This shirt may have violated Yankee Stadium policy, but what are you going to do when it's the superstar's wife that's wearing it?

Fans complained to stadium security, who apparently didn't know what to do.

Yea, FCUK plays with their acronym's similarity to the F-bomb on much of their shirts. I think it's tacky, but apparently it's 'cute' to some. NY sports media = dumb (on this one). Desparate for a 'story', they go with this. Think about all the crazy spin this would get if A-Rod weren't good again this year. Seriously, if they were still all about booing him, this would be 'some message from A-Rod to the boo birds!'

Hahaha I found that to be pretty funny, but dealing with New York people everyday on the phone I know they are nothing more then a**holes who would take offense to that.

I don't know if I'm in minority, but I really like A-Rod (I grew up in ******on and saw him on the Foxes). I know his post season numbers haven't been great, but he will end up being at least a top 50 player of all-time (if he's healthy) and will possibly have the HR record. I don't get why he puts up w/ New York - I know he gets paid a ton, but there are other teams that would pay him that and get him out of that media. He just doesn't seem like a NY guy.

a**holes, a__h____
Please? no circumventing the cuss filter to block out parts of words. Doing this counts as a strike.

We'll let French Connection UK survive because it happens to exist.

yeah, its distasteful to wear a shirt like that where kids can read it. I have never been to a game in NY but have been to NY before and I'm sure those same kids that might have read it have heard a lot worse when her husband flys out in the playoffs. Its just the NY media trying to stir things up like they always do.

Distasteful to wear what? The word is FCUK. If children can work out what it's similar to, then they knew the word in the first place.

What we have here is a mountain/molehill interface scenario.

for clearity's sake, did MRS Arod actually have a profanity on her shirt? or did it actually actually say FCUK ? Legally, implying an obsceneity is not the same thing as wearing one.

i know a lot of companies that make a lot of money selling merchandise using words that have other meanings or their other meaning is implied. Colleges do the same thing.

My wife has an Eye U tshirt. She's an optometrist. She went to Indiana Uuniversity - thus Eye U. I know Ball St University is famous for its Tshirts. You can guess what is printed on them.

so for clearity sake, I'd like to know if the tshirt actually included an obsecenity, or if the obscenity was spelled differently and just implied. You can't tell from the picture. All you can truely see is the F. Based on the past lies and bad reputation of the New York Post, the word could have been Farm or Fire, or Four or Fatt or Foxy or some other 4 letter word that begins with the letter F. By blocking out the remaining letters, and in reading some of the other trash written by the New York Post, this entire story and picture could have been false. has another newspaper with an actual reputation for reporting the news in truth actually verified what was written on the tshirt? or are they just quoting the NY post? have the globe and enquirer come out with more pictures? was this picture from last week? or somebody's 5 year old file when AROD was a Ranger? Was this an actual picture or was it doctored? it seems odd no other picture exists? I guess she never got out of that seat? and no other paparazzi photographers were at the game to take their own pictures? this entire story seems kind of odd that only one blurred photo is being used.

The article made it pretty clear that she was wearing the 'real' word.

Again (and for the last time), it's time to end any further references to French Connection UK.

Casey - I read the article. I'm not questioning the article. What I'm questioning is the truthfulness of the article. I have seen no other creditable news source come out and deny or substantiate the article and/or photo. With my knowledge of that newspaper and also forged/morphed photos that appear daily on the internet, I have to believe that the photo may be fake and the story is a lie.

I dislike a lot of today's fashion. but a lot of today's fashion does border on the edge of profanity and obscenity. I wouldn't pay money for jeans that are already ripped no matter if they do have the name Ambercrombie or Fitch on them. But, I'm smart enough to realize many people pay money for them just because they are ripped and have that name. Why do people buy Tommy Hilferger or Eddie bauer stuff? the simple answer is because they can.

Casey, it's clear you seem to believe the author of this story word for word. I say, consider the source before believing it to be true. and since this story is about AROD's wife, and not AROD, don't you agree it would be better as an off topic thread?

You have a point about wanting to question the 'truthfulness' of anything on that web site.

The reason for cutting off the Connection acronym is that it doesn't seem relevant at this point. And simply put, it could make this thread tacky and potentially cause people to 'think up' excuses to get around the word filter. (In other words, I'm trying to keep people from chalking up violations.)

If there actually is a connection to the Connection, we may have to revisit. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif

But for now, we should be looking for accounts of this story from other sources or commenting on the propriety of such a shirt at the stadium.

everyone needs to CALM DOWN!!!!! I find no problem with this story at all. Yes, it is FCUK(which stands for French Connection UK). It is a popular store in the UK much like the Gap or Aeropostale here. I have a shirt from there from when I went to London, it is comfortable and it fits great. Yes it has FCUK on the back and yes SOME people do mistake it for that other 4 letter word. This is a story though of the overwhelming PC'ness of people in the US. I don't even see this as a story. I proudly wear mine and will continue to. I might even pull out another shirt that I got at Summerfest, It say I am not an alchoholic, I am a drunk, Alchoholics got to meetings http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif

Trombone, in three separate posts, it was made clear that the use of the acronym was done.

if what trombone says is correct and I have no reason to doubt him, this is just another reason not to believe the stories printed in the New York tabloids. And that's exactly what they have become. They blurred out the picture and made up their own story to go with it. Yes the shirt is offensive and tacky. But the letters on the shirt were not what the paper claimed they were. I have to believe Mrs arod is not totally innocent. She knew exactly what she was doing wearing the shirt. and she knew exactly the reaction it would create.

I'm old enough to remember the days when journalism was a respected occupation. It's too bad stories like this grab the sports headlines instead of stuff like there are 4 brewers on the all star roster.

Yes it has ... on the back and yes SOME people do mistake it for that other 4 letter word.

The reason people mistake it is because the company plays it up...as I was walking to lunch today, I passed a teenage boy wearing one that said "I'd ... me." Lame, and about as witty as those idiotic "Big Johnson" t-shirts from way back.

Kids have to learn some time. The first time I heard the F word was at a Packer game at County Stadium. My uncle took me and told me not to look at the man selling t-shirts on the sidewalk, so of course I looked. He was selling "(the word) the Bears!" t-shirts. After that I was familiar with the word and had a strong dislike for the Bears.

aarrrggghhh...... If not for the inteligent conversations on the brewers here, I don't think I would come here because of the censorship. No one is trying to circumvent the language filters. That is simply the initials of the store much like some people who use AE for american eagle. Than being said who cares if they play it up, it certainly creates buzz. As people here in the US, we need to let somethings go, like water on the back of a duck. Lets be a little less uptight. I remember 5-6 years ago when Abercrombie and Fitch was selling thongs for young girls. There was outrage then, but this is nowhere near the level of that. If it hadn't made the NY paper this would be a non-story. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif Oh, I also saw that policy for Yankes stadium as far as obscene language and gestures. It they were to inforce that, wouldn't the stadium be half-empty at times http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/happy.gif
