I'm not really concerned about attendance. It's early in the year, and today was Easter. That was the only reason for a small crowd today. Every other bobblehead game will either sell out, or come very close. Once summer starts, the weekday games will also get better attendance. Right now, the weather is bad, so less people want to tailgate or go out to the game. I think we'll still hit 3 million this year.

2010 vs 2011 Attendance

Overall attendance is down 420 fans/game (as of Saturday's games). It could be much worse, but Texas is making up a big part of the decline by averaging over 10,000 fans/game more than last year. Some of the numbers are skewed, such as Toronto's big increase (due to an early-season Yankees series).

The league-wide numbers are actually very healthy. It is good to see the fans showing up in some mid-markets like Texas, Colorado, and San Diego. Many of the teams with declines are still in overall good shape, such as Milwaukee, Chicago (Cubs), Atlanta, and Houston.

It remains to be seen what will happen to the Mets and Dodgers. There could be significant declines in both cities later this year and especially in 2012 if the ownership issues are not resolved. I think the Minnesota Twins could also be in for a huge decline next year. The Marlins will see at least a 10,000/game increase in 2012 judging by other cities that have opened new ballparks. Cleveland has been in the news for some surprisingly low early numbers, but they have a decent prognosis because the Cavaliers will see a huge drop next year and the team does not appear to be as bad as advertised.

What the hell does Gomez have on his feet?

Looks like he was wearing some new white, low rise shoes. I don't think I have ever seen a Brewers player ever wear white shoes. I thought only the A's really wore white shoes. If he keeps hitting like he has been lately I don't care what he wears.

I laughed very hard when I saw the millerparkhawk twitter account. Is the same guy who was behind the Plush account doing the Hawk as well? Keep it up I like it.

That quite possibly could have been Gomez's best 3 game stretch as a Brewer. Even his outs were not typical Gomez outs; he very easily could have had 2 more hits (The bunt and liner to 3rd on Saturday) and a couple more walks (The strike call on Friday comes to mind). Now if he could bottle even half of his performance this weekend into a season; he would be an All Star.

These weren't all white though. They were like low top Chuck Taylor's or Keds that we wore as kids. The toes and soles were white but the rest of the shoe was dark and almost looked like canvas.
