2011-04-23 Astros at Brewers - [Brewers lose, 9-6, 10 innings; pre- and post-game audio at tail end of thread]

The fact that despite being provided with 2 better players Kotsay still patrols RF doesn't seem to indicate RR is a quick learner

And who are these two "better players"? Kotsay has performed decently as of late whereas the rest of the bench has been trash.

I can handle a loss where we get out-played. That's fine. Tonight wasn't one of those nights.

A missed call at 1b by West turns what would have been a 3R HR into a 2R HR.

The double play on the contact play was awful.

We leave the bases loaded in the 9th.

We leave the guy who has an ERA of 0.00, with only 3 base-runners allowed in 7 innings warming up in the bullpen....while Green (who has been overused) predictably implodes.

Poor fundamentals, poor managing, and West's umpiring = a loss that never should have been.

Had a family outing to be at so I had to step out of this thread after the first few innings. Wasn't expecting this much Roenicke hate, to be honest.

I didn't have much problem with Yuni running on a ground ball, but Lucroy needed to make a decision and stick with it in that situation. Either keep running to third while Yuni is in the run down, or go back to second. Don't make Yuni stop because you stopped (and make Almonte stop too, almost causing a triple play).

Frustrating loss, but one they probably deserved to lose anyway. Braun and Fielder deserve a lot of credit for keeping the team in the game and getting it to extra innings.

I don't care if he's a rookie manager. Putting a contact play on with first and third and NOBODY out is freaking idiotic. Inexcusable.

Then there's the double switch allergy. And the puzzling bullpen moves. And Ed Sedar, but that's not his fault.

But the morale is good, so he'll get a pass on the management gaffes.

I knew the game was over the second I saw Green out in the 10th. He shouldn't even be allowed to watch major league baseball let alone play in it. Words can't even describe the 8th inning so I won't even try. Ed Seder is a terrible 3B coach. For a team that's suppose to make the playoffs we sure have a ton of players who have no business playing in the majors.

Completely and utterly gave this game away. Pathetic.

Morgan and now Boggs should be out there before Kotsay

for the record, Gomez was out on the Foxmo replay. Yeah it was thisclose to being safe but Joe West got the call right, even if he just guessed.

I'm not saying that he guessed but it was so bang-bang that he could have called him safe and probably wouldn't have had an argument either.

Just a horribly sloppy game. Both sides. The contact play? I can understand it but YuniB got such a bad jump (just like in the field) that he should have known to just get back on the bag. The ball was hit too slow to be a DP, even with Almonte running to first. What was LuCroy thinking? Just stay on the bag and be happy you're in scoring position. Even Ed Sedar had his hands on his hips during the play as if he was saying, "what the heck are you guys doing out there???"

Well, go out tomorrow and get the series win, which is pretty much what many of us expected anyway.

Kotsay has hit well so I have no idea why you would still be complaining about him. Morgan is hurt, get over it. Kotsay and Yuni have been pretty darn good and are not the problem. Move on already.

While being hot Kotsay has put up below replacement level production on the year. Once he stops being hot he'll be well below replacement level. This isn't about the small sample that is this year either, he's been below replacement level for years now.

How has Kotsay "hit well"? His line is .286/.388/.310 and his OBP is only that high because he has gotten 3 IBB. But the bigger issue is that he can't field. His glove completely outweighs anything his bat could bring which isn't much.

Ya that line is good and he is putting up good "replacement" numbers, seeing he is only a replacement. That is why he is on the team. It sounds like you are coming up with reasons why he will sooner or later not have good numbers. We are not worries about that. He is replacing Hart until he comes back and putting up good numbers. Some people fail to realize this and complain like he will be playing 140 games for us this year.

Another game we should have won that we gave away...these are going to come back to kill us in the end

Green sucked. What makes you think we should've won it? RR is overusing a pitcher that should be in AAA.

Exactly why green shouldnt be in any game of consequence, he is being used way to much by this idiot of a manager.
