Bob Uecker as a performer

Bob Uecker has been a guest in a few TV shows here and there and was in Mr. Belvedere and Major League movies. What was your favorite Uecker role aside from the Major League movies? He had quite an acting and tv resume:

I saw an interview with Bob Costas once and he was asked who his favorite guy to interview was. He said it was funny since he and Jonny Carson were just talking about that. They both agreed it was Ueck because they didn't have to feed him particular lines like most comedians need. (Dennis Miller I'm looking at you) They could go in whatever direction they pleased and Bob could do something with it. His ability to pull humor out of anything fed him is something few can do.

ugh, and that's the problem when Uecker is on Leno now a days. The last 3 times I've seen him on Leno, that's all Jay did was pretty much feed lines off a cue card for Uecker to play off of. It made it lame because it ended up being the same stories and jokes that I've heard from Uecker so many times.

 

I wish Leno and his writers would just let the man talk. Or, instead of feeding him lines, begin a conversation with a current affair or something and let Uecker go wild.
