I question whether or not he should have batted in the 8th more than anything. Everyone in the known universe knows that keeping Ben healthy is a huge key to our season, why expose him to an AB and push him over 100 pitches on opening day when we have a nice comfortable lead. I just don't like the move.

I hate the home-run cut. 99% of the time, it results in a plain old swinging strike. Like Billy says, "Don't show the power, let the power show." (Or something like that.) Maybe he should tell Prince that, often Jenks as well.

I'm pissed it took until 4 hours after our first game for there to be threads calling for Yost to be fired.

I mean, we only won by six runs!!!!!!! Some other unnamed manager easily could have simply willed us to 7 or 8 more.

I am pissed anybody had any complaints after our ace throws a complete game and we win by 6 runs against a sinkerball pitcher. I guess I am to thin skinned to blog during the season. See you in Sept.

Fan is short for fanatic.

I blame Wang.

Ben Sheets definitely, without question, showed us all that he is undoubtedly not even close to being an ace. I mean, c'mon. Three strikeouts?!?!? That's a pittance! http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif

Why wasn't Sheets bunting in the bottom of second with Hart at second and 1 out? It all worked out in the end, but exactly why was Sheets swinging away?
Ned says the team will be bunting less this year. That includes the pitchers bunting less, too.

9 innings - 1 pitcher

6 runs to work with.

nuff said.

use a scrub for inning #9. see what the heck Turnbow has in the tank this year. Heck, he could give up a grand slam and a solo shot and still leave with Ben keeping the W.

Yeah, I really would have liked to see T-bow go out there and show he's back. Of course, I haven't been logging a lot of crew hours this spring so maybe the entire pen was sick and Benny was forced to throw 100 pitches his first time out.

When a pitcher is having an easy game, his manager can afford to let him pad his pitch count a bit. In Ben's case, he didn't even pitch from the stretch until the 9th inning.

To the guy who wreaked of cat pee that sat in front of me at the game.

TAKE A SHOWER or don't wear whatever pair of clothes you cat urinated on. It was disgusting. I mean.. you didn't notice the entire row behind you slowly trickling out the smell was so strong?

Yes.. it was horrible. If you smelled an unchanged litter box that maybe as strong as that guy smelled. It was disgusting... I had my hand over my nose for half the game.

Right Null? http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif

Oh, man, that was horrible. The two guys to the left of us noticed it. The two guys to the right noticed it, and left. We eventually moved back another row, and could still smell it.

Other than that, the game was great http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif

I agree for mid season, but I just don't like it on opening day, especially since he had to bat in order to go back out there.

Yeah, I guess I am surprised they didn't bring in Turnbow or something to finish the game. Why risk having your ace strain his arm or something in the first outing of the season? I know there's a "Complete Game" stat, but what's the point? Basically it's just bragging rights.

Maybe Benny read the "How many CG 3-hitter's or less" thread and wanted to show us all that he can do it any time he pleases. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif

Or Foamboy is Ben Sheets.

But seriously... Benny was doing just fine out there. A 104 pitch CG is NOT something to get worked up over. A 120+ pitch CG, on the other hand, is. Just ask the Cubs about thathttp://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif

Went to the game tonight and sat two rows behind the Dodgers bullpen and when Chad Billingsly started to warm-up some guys started chanting "Chaaaad....Chaaaaad....YOU SUCK" I seriously can't stand this heckling because it is the most juvenile heckle out there, not that heckling itself isn't sophmoric or childish to begin with, but still, come up with something clever, not just a "you suck."

If you want to move up seats, or sit in seats that aren't yours... fine... be that guy. But, definately don't sit there and pretendt hey are yours when the rightful owners come to sit down.

Also, If there's 4 of you, and your seats are together, there is no reason to put your coats between each of you, so you take up 8 seats and are shouting to talk to one another. C'mon guys. Please.

Hey, look, there's a baseball game going on. Maybe wait until between innings before you have to stand up to have a 5 minute conversation about the Simpsons.
