2007 Vent Thread, Part 1

lcbj68c
So vacin8r, I see either typos or misspelled words in your post and numerous punctuation problems. Do you suck, or does your typing and ability to write correctly suck? My point is talk about the problem as you see it, be blunt in your assesment, I don't care. But when someone says "he sucks" it makes it a personal attack which seems pretty pointless.

there are typos, misspelled words, etc in my post cause its a freakin internet message board, not an english class. i can understand under the original thread title a personal attack of sucking may be unwarranted, however once this became the vent thread i would think the point would not be to attack other posters for the way they vent, but instead to let off steam. who hasnt watched a game when a player misses a key shot, dropped a key pass, or struck out with risp and you scream, "you freaking suck!!!"? i dont wish ill on any of these players (with of course bonds and sheffield as exceptions), but its cathartic to rant off every now and then. if it wasnt jim rome would be out of a job.

I'm ready to let 'er rip.

This is in reference to MLB giving DirecTV exclusive rights to the Extra Innings Package.

Being one who used to enjoy watching West Coast games around 10 pm my time and relaxing because of them, I'm pissed off. Bud Selig had brought baseball back to Milwaukee. In a way he has taken it away from Milwaukee baseball fans. Bud for some reason, (OK it was a $700 Million reason) felt it more than ok to slap hard core baseball fans across the face by his deal. I know it was good money for the MLB, but it totally sucks for me and other non-dish fans.

I'm not switching. I'm more ticked off at baseball than ever before including strikes. I'm seriously upset and feel betrayed. If money is all that the MLB cares about, they won't be getting much of mine. I have decided that since money is the only language baseball speaks, I will talk to them in a way they understand. I'm going to fewer games this year. Piss me off again, and I won't go to -any- games this year. Seriously. I am not just blowing smoke. I told my wife the same thing and I even told baseball the consequences if they did the deal.

Bud screwed me. I used to be pretty supportive of him and now he's gone and screwed me over. I'm done with him, and he is now one of my least favorite people on the planet. I blame nobody for this but baseball. I will not happily eat the dish of trash they serve their fans. I'm throwing my plate back in their face.

MLB will be getting a letter from me expressing my dismay and although it obviously means nothing to them, it will make me feel better.

Pound Sand Bud Selig. I'm done with you. You make me sick.

-I used to have a neat-o signature, but it got erased.

Huzzah! Huzzah! I agree with your sentiments Jamie. Although I think Selig is a piece of garbage that hasn't done that good of a job. He has always placed money above integrity. (see steroids vs. Sosa/Mcgwire$)

I'm sick of people saying Selig did nothing about steroids... there was nothing he could do, because the players union held all the power.

Until their use suddenly became a hot button issue in the main stream media, only then did the players union lose its high horse and have to submit to the demands of the commissioners office.

You're right to point out that Selig takes far more than his fair share of criticism & blame on the steroid issue.

You're tragically wrong, however, to suggest that his hands were completely tied. Everyone -- repeat, EVERYONE -- raked in the dough from turning away while players abused steroids.

One rumor around the time of Selig's shift from interim commisioner to official titleholder was that he was chosen bc the other owners knew him, and felt he was their buddy (read: can be manipulated)

Selig is, to be sure, a genuine believer in the purity and joy of baseball. What he isn't is a man doomed by inescapable surroundings and circumstances. Bud looked the other way as players abused, and so did we, the fans

So, more specifically, my 'vent' is that I'm sick and tired of fans acting as though they had no part in this whole process. We, as fans, are constantly looking for "Who's to blame?" in this saga. The reality is that we are every bit as culpable as anyone

I'm glad there is a vent thread because I wouldn't bring this up otherwise. I'm tired of the Bill Hall lovefest. I like Bill Hall as a player, but I perceive that there is way to much love out their for him from the fan who thinks they know a lot about the Brewers because they watch the web gems and occasionly look at Box scores. Bill Hall is a solid player with potential (MVP potential? come on Yost). Last year he hit more homeruns, had some memorable homeruns (pink bat=classic), and did well in the qualatative Web Gem category.

I really like Bill Hall, but I can not stand talking about him with with the Sportscenter fan who thinks they know everything, but only watches 5 Brewer games all year.

No Hall love? I get what you're saying about overvaluing highlight-reel plays, but sheesh.

What's a guy gotta do to win your respect? Play all over the field, wherever his team needs him? Lead his team in HRs & RBI? Become actively involved in both Milwaukee's and his hometown's community? .....

Miller what you are talking about is slugger love. The infatuation with the long ball. The "we need a big bat" mentality. The "Bill Hall had a breakout year in 2006" (I still say 2005 was his breakout year) even though the only thing he did better in 2006 than 2005 was hit HRs. I am also tired of slugger love.

Fan is short for fanatic.

I blame Wang.

Well his OPS did jump 72 points as well. Yeah the jump from 2004 to 2005 was huge, but only because in 2004 he was one of the worst players in baseball.
