2007 Vent Thread, Part 1

Wise couldn't go. He had pitched 2 consecutive days. So if anything the Brewers' starting pitching had 'made the bed'

actually, in Yosts post game show..that very question was asked..and Yost got real defensive and said Wise was available. hes always available, everyones available. So he could have gone...and big freaking deal, the guy pitched 2 games in a row..why can't he go 3? is his arm going to fall off? its not like he throws 98 either..he is a change up guy with a 88-90mph fastball which he barley throws.

Wasn't it just a couple days ago that Aquino was lights out in Florida

All for naught. Contenders don't let pitchers who throw bases loaded 3-0 pitches into the dugout another chance in that situation. But I have no doubt that Ned would put him in again if faced with a similar situation today.

See, Ned does learn from his decision making, its just that it takes him 5 or 6 times of making the same bogus decision before he gets it. That would put us on pace to win consistantly in '08 or '09.

That game should have been won last night, at the very least it should have been close.

IMO, swap Aquino for Capellan (admit the decision out of camp was wrong), keep Villanueva for long middle relief.

Is Boston a contender? Dice-K walked in the winning run last night. So I guess next time he's in a bases loaded situation Francona will automatically pull him, huh?

This is non-sense. He gave up 2 runs and K'ed 10 over what, 7 innings? AND, ball four of that at bat was very close to the strike zone, NOT 7 feet off the plate.

blanket definitive? What does that mean? Do you really think Aquino will be with the club for that much longer. Look at his outings, he has had only one good one (@ fla). I understand it sometimes takes people longer to see the inevitable, but Aquino is no diamond in the rough, just a righty version of DeLaRosa with less of a fastball.

Same old Ned...

Kind of like a comfy blanket... you know what you're going to get:

Bad bullpen managing.

Gimmick offensive plays at the worst times in the game

Unsubstantiated veteran love

Did I mention...Bad bullpen managing?

It has become so commonplace that I can hardly vent anymore.

*Sigh*

I don't get why: 1) Aquino didn't start the inning himself or 2)Why Wise got pulled after a bunt single on 2 pitches in the inning, or 3) Why Cordero wasn't brought in instead of Aquino if they were determined to make a change, or 4) Why Aquino wasn't pulled after he clearly didn't have it again and loaded the bases.

Turnbow and Cordero had both pitched in the last two games. Wise can't go more than an inning, much less on more than a day or two. Aquino is part of the pen, at least he was...can't see what he's got in him unless you use him.

I'm not happy about it either, but given the bullpen and who's pitched recently, he was the guy.

Too bad Capellan is being such a knucklehead. He would be with the club tomorrow (and still might be).

He needs to go down right this instant! This was his third strike.... I would rather have a stubborn Cappelan than him.

Nice too short comeback... but Aquino needs to go down and reglue in the minors.

Ned Yost made the SAME mistake in the same week. Ned has cost the Brewers 2 games in the week. Aquino needs to be taken away from Ned because it seems Ned can't think rationally with him on the staff. Not that Ned has ever thought rationally when it comes to the relievers. 2 games that the whole team was let down by their manager and I am SICK OF IT!
