ok...

Sportsfans are the biggest hypocrits in the world.

I am getting sick of sportsfans, they are such hypocrits. Especially Detroit, remember the all star game in 2005, when Kenny Rogers got booed like crazy? Because of his run-in with the camera man, well after hating him, they now love him and call him one of their own, this is just one example, they also used to boo Sheffield...

Now for our part, once David Bell was brought up in the whole steroid probe, we all said, oh, there is no way that he took steroids with us, heaven forbid a Brewer cheating, he must have done it with all the pressure in Philadelphia... I'll bet you anything that if Bell wasn't a Brewer last year, we would think nothing of it and just look down on him.

That is all I've got for now.

Now someone will probably vent on my sentence structure, spelling, word choice, verb tense agreement adn aynthing esle taht they can find wrong with my typinghttp://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif

If he was 'roiding/using HGH in Philly, I'd absolutely assume it continued to his time in Milwaukee.

I think Brewerfans are just less likely to assume our players used roids because we sucked in the steroid era and couldn't afford good steroid-enhanced players.

I would like to vent on how big ESPN has gotten. The way the can make or brake someone's career, even life. The sports industry has gotten so Hollywood, its sucks sometimes having to watch how they treat some of these athletes, recording every single step they make. All they are trying to do is bust their asses. Everyone makes mistakes, but to see how much importance is put on each move, well...lets just say it's hard to watch. Unfortunately, I love sports so much, I'm forced to watch this soap opera.

Hey, at least it's better than watching the news and that soap opera!!!!

Glad to see someone here finally call a spade a spade. Sarfate is terrible as is Hendrickson. Sarfate has a fantastic arm, no one is denying that, but that does not mean he can PITCH. He is all over the place all the time. I wonder had his father not been a poster on here if the board as a whole would have been harder on him. Hendrickson has been much more impressive than Sarfate in the minors but cant get it together at the major league level. Time and time again he has proved he can't do it. Both have taken up valuable roster spots for entirely too long The Brewers have outrighted guys with much more talent, ability, etc in the past for proving much more then either of these guys have. I'm the first to say that alot of rust must come off in the spring, but I don't think that is the issue with these two. Bring on Villanueva!!!!!!!!!!!!

I thought Dennis was out of options....did we just miscalculate last year?

From poster IIAY:

Seasons spent entirely in short-season leagues (the New-York Penn, Northwest, Pioneer, Appalachian, Gulf Coast, and Arizona Rookie Leagues, as well as the Dominican and Venezuelan Summer Leagues) don't count as seasons for the purposes of a fourth option.

Dennis spent the entire 2001 and 2002 seasons in short-season leagues (with Arizona and Ogden), so they don?t count toward his seasons. Therefore, he would be entering his fifth ?season? as far as options are concerned. Since he is entering his fifth ?season? and has has been optioned in three separate years, he gets a fourth option.

Obscure rule, you'll see even less often in the future now that players don't need to be added to the 40-man until after four pro years, not three.

Let me get this straight. Sarfate comes up last year and looks really promising. He then goes to Mexico this winter and looks more than promising, his game is now classified as encouraging. Then he has a bad day in SPRING TRAINING and there's a bunch that just want to get rid of him immediately (he STINKS!)? I find myself often disagreeing with Billyhallfan on just about everything, but this time he is right. The sports fans that never think about things that happened other than what happened 2 minutes ago are what I want to vent about. Get a grip.

Well said Jeenus. I wonder if anyone has any statistics on the percentage of Major League managers who use spring training statistics for anyone but fringe players? Of course Sarfate is a guy that wants to have a good camp, but he is also a guy who is not going to "blow" his chances at a future roster spot because of two bad outings.

But Dennis sucks?... hardly

Thanks for saying it Brian. I think nearly everybody visiting this board would like to "suck" as much as Sarfate. I know I was never good enough to play minor league ball, not to mention get a spring training invite.

As long as this is the vent thread: My vent would be the way people respond to players who are not playing up to expectations, and the name calling that goes on. One could certainly make references to Sarfate is having control issues, or maybe his velocity is not what we had hoped, etc. But to throw things out like he sucks always irritates me.

In all fairness, "sucks" is a relative term. Obviously, anyone in baseball sucks much less than I do at baseball... however, given a comparison to another major league player, he or she may suck.

Dennis still doesn't suck, even using that comparison. He'll be a major leaguer for years, I believe.

boo frekin hoo, this is the fent thread now. if we wanna say someone sucks, so be it. can i pitch? no, but id like to see some of these athletes who have been coddled in school since 6th grade fix a computer at work like i do, or do any of our jobs. they probably cant cut it either. major league athletes get a lot of money to be athletes and if they cant cut it at the highest level, money paying fans have the right to pronoune that players suckitude to the masses. and as for david bell? we dont defend him because he was a brewer, its just hard to believe a roided up hghed beef boy could hit that badly. if he did use, maybe he didnt use enough. up the dosage dave, we need a third baseman who can hit!!!

wow. so since there are x amount of spots on major league rosters and a significant bunch more trying to win those spots, the ones that didn't or haven't made it "suck"? Being paid a lot of money doesn't make them any less human.
