Manny Parra can't translate his ability into results. Guys like that usually find themselves shuffled from team to team. It's incredible that the Brewers have shown the patience they have with this guy compared say to Villanueva (who the Blue Jays are raving about by the way). I just don't see it happening and I will be surprised if he's a Brewer in September.

They are two totally different pitchers. One has a ceiling of a mid rotation starter, the other is a middle relief guy at best.

"Dustin Pedroia doesn't have the strength or bat speed to hit major-league pitching consistently, and he has no power......He probably has a future as a backup infielder if he can stop rolling over to third base and shortstop." Keith Law, 2006

Do we know if Parra throws primarily a 2-seam fastball or a 4-seam fastball? A 4-seam fastball has less movement, therefore is easier to track as a hitter than a 2-seam fastball. I know the solution can't be this simple. I'm just curious.

Its a 4 seamer. Not many people can throw a 2 seamer 94-96. Kevin Brown had one of the hardest 2 seamers I've ever seen and I think it topped out at about 93. Plus Parra's his fastball is pretty straight. He may also have a 2 seamer in his arsenal, but I don't recall ever seeing it

A 4-seamer. This article might interest you (written before the 2010 season). Manny's FB is BY FAR his worst pitch - in fact the rest of his arsenal is quite good. One would think that a fastball would be the easiest pitch to correct, but what do I know?

You don't have an Adam Wainwright. Easily the best gentlemen in all of sports. You don't have the amount of real good old American men like the Cardinals do. Holliday, Wainwright, Skip, Berkman those 4 guys are incredible people

If that's the case, which is likely, I'd have to assume that he hasn't been able to control the 2-seamer over the years. And he did have a confidence problem. It showed in his body language on and off the mound.
