2 out of the last 3 games, the game is on the line in the 8th inning with multiple guys on base, and Almonte is the batter. My thought each time: just strike out so something worse doesn't happen. Not good. Hurry back Corey.

I concur, but Corey will be back on Tuesday, so only 2 more games of this crap. Hopefully Boggs starts in RF tomorrow over Almonte.

Sounds like Weeks will be back in the fold pretty soon, if Roenicke's words hold water.

Weeks

Hart

Braun

Fielder

McGehee

That top five does not suck.

No it certainly does not. We proved that pretty well last year. Hopefully the bottom of the order can be good enough also. Betancourt, Morgan/Gomez, and Lucroy isn't horrible. They can provide at least some production for us.

McGehee sprained his thumb on the final play. I'd guess he'll just miss a game or two, but we'll see. Hart is coming up tomorrow, but may not be activated. I'd guess he will now that McGehee is hurt, which would put them another bat short on the bench.

Gotta think Hart will be activated tomorrow if McGehee can't go. He might not start (although if you're going to activate him, i don't see why you don't start him) but there's no way you can go into a game with Boggs, Almonte, and Nieves as your only bench players (assuming Kotsay and Counsell start. either way, 3 bench players, 1 of which is nieves is no good).

Since "sprain" is injury terminology for "he didn't break it", we'll definitely have to wait & see. Could wind up being nothing, could wind up being a partial tear to a ligament. Casey strikes me as one bad mutha- shut yo mouth... and he looked like he was in considerable pain. I hope it's not serious.

On the bright side, it's not his throwing hand. Then again, it's his thumb, which is worse than if it were another finger. I would imagine trying to close a glove with a painful thumb would be tough.

I wish they would play the crap out of Boggs right now. I want him to earn his way on or off the roster after Hart gets activated. Also the sooner Kotsay settles into his long term role of pinch hitting and getting only sporadic at bats, the better, so he can make whatever mental adjustments he needs to for that role.

Do we keep an extra outfielder besides the starters + Nyjer Morgan and Kotsay? I don't know if they view Kotsay as the 5th outfielder or an infielder/pinch hitter who is playing out of position right now.

I tried to log in on my iPad. Turns out it was an etch-a-sketch and I don't own an iPad. Also, I'm out of vodka.
