2011-04-02 Brewers (Marcum) at Reds (Wood) - 6:10 PM CDT [Brewers lose, 4-2]

That ball hit Fielder in the glove. The fact Weeks is charged with that error is asinine. Yikes.

With Marcum only being slated for 80-85 pitches tonight, I think odds are pretty good we'll see Sergio Mitre's debut, too.

The disheartening thing is I have no faith that our 7,8,9 hitters in our lineup will ever get a hit. Rob Neyer told the guys on the D List this week that as a lifelong Royals fan he's seen firsthand how truly "awful" of a player Betancourt is. HE said you can find a league minimum player that will provide you both the offensive and defensive "production" you'll get from him. Not encouraging.

Something's not right with Marcum - he's a way better pitcher than this. The predictable knee-jerk reactions don't surprise me, however.

Interesting stat from the Reds telecast. All of last year Marcum had 26 total 3-0 counts. Today he already has 5.

And he keeps rotating his arm and lifting it and stretching in between pitches.

Wow, the Reds broadcasters just mentioned that it was an error on Weeks, not Fielder. I am speechless. Someone should keep tally of the errors Fielder adds to his infielder's totals.
On an unrelated note, the official scorer is represented by Scott Boras too.

He could be rotating his arm to keep it stretched out because it's like 3 degrees there. But, tradition is all MLB is about these days so keeping the tradition of Reds starting the season at home every year is somehow more important than the fans' comfort. I think, if a team wants to start the season at home, they should be forced to put a roof on their stadium. But, then again tradition means jack to me.

Wonderful, we've replaced one nibbler with another nibbler.
That's not really true. He only had two starts with 4+ walks last year, and only had seven of those games in his previous 120 innings.

CC Sabathia had 5 walks in his Brewers debut. That guy was a bum.
