Bluemound Bars -- Your Analysis Wanted

sykoslapdown

A couple buddies and I are in town for the Cubs series next Fri-Sun ,and I've heard the bars on Bluemound are the place to go before and after the game.

Can anyone tell me a little about those bars?

Which do you recommend, and what makes them different from each other?

We're staying downtown (Aloft Hotel), but I expect the sports fans will be near the park. We're three 40-year old guys who do an annual baseball trip to a different city. We just like to drink beer, and have fun with the local team's fans.

Good luck Brewers. Should be a good season for you.

Derry Hegertys is a nice atmosphere. Its got a pretty basic food menu and the drinks are a little more expensive than the other bars (I don't know for sure because I haven't gone to the other bars in quite a while) but it's not terrible. It probably won't be as busy and say Kelly's Bleachers. I personally have always found Kellys a bit overrated but that's just my opinion.

Kelly's bleachers is always busy. I like Long Wong's especially if you are looking for food choices a little different than your typical sports bar. My bar of choice before games is Obriens, which is right off of 41 on Vilet. Good food, usually less busy and has a shuttle. Only negative is that there is no other bars in the neighborhood so bar hoping is not an option.

You've got Dana's Fieldhouse right there too but yeah, that's about it.

Kelly's Bleacher's is the guy's best bet. Hit Kelly's, Long Wong's and Steve's and you should be pretty happy.

Also if you want something to eat right there Fiesta Garibaldi has better than average Mexican food. I think they might have modified the name, Garibaldi Sports or something like that. And for anyone else who likes Mexican food go eat at Quiote, which is on Bluemound just west of Hawley. I've eaten there several times and it's excellent. It's right next to that freestanding ATM on the north side of the street.

Actually the place to go before the games is the parking lot. If you want the true Brewer fans experience you should tailgate.

But if you can't do that, then all the above mentioned bars are fine. Maybe start off at McGinn's and head east and bar hop along the way. Take the shuttle from Kelly's Bleacher's.

I've been to Kelly's a few times, I think the food isn't all that great. I'd chose Girabaldi or Long Wongs to eat. I suppose it doens't matter where you drink, bounce around a bit. There's a shuttle that runs from pretty much every bar on bluemound as well.

I agree with Homer that if you haven't tailgated at Miller Park, you need to.

Have to agree with this. Tailgating is half the experience of Miller Park.

Fan is short for fanatic.

I blame Wang.
