Carlos Silva released by Cubs

Espn is reporting the Cubs have dumped Carlos Silva. And McCalvry is on top of it saying: "Brewers not interested in Carlos Silva: Milwaukee Brewers general manager Doug Melvin said the team is not interested in free-agent SP Carlos Silva (Cubs)"

Last year he went 10-6 with a 4.2 ERA in 21 starts

Good you don't want him. Just think about this for a second, the Cubs are a frugal bunch when it comes to releasing players with money remaining. They much rather trade said players instead of eating money, so what does that said about Silva that the Cubs were willing to make him an example and eat $8 millon or so left on his contract?

He had two good months last year, the only good stretch he's had since 2007. He was awful the 2nd half when he wasn't out due to a medical issue. He was terrible this spring allowing 27 runs (21 earned) and 32 hits in 17 innings.

Why on earth would the Brewers have any interest?
