People over on JSOnline believe that it's actually Morgan running the Tony Plush twitter. They keep posting all the comments, and saying he's their favorite athlete to follow and stuff. Lol, I thought that was pretty funny.

not sure how because he has tweeted while Morgan was on the playing defensively, although it is a great twitter account whoever is doing it.

The trade for Morgan might turn out to be Melvin's most economical move as GM of the Brewers, he's been fantastic thus far.

Well he is a slap hitter with speed, he is largely going to be at the whim of BABIP so when balls are falling he'll look great and when they aren't he'll look bad. He also can't hit lefties at all. But against RHP he is a solid little player.

I just was informed that my customized PLUSH navy-blue Brewers t-shirt with the number 2 on it was cancelled. Boo.

Tried to order a Plush custom #2 jersey from mlb.com...Cancelled via e-mail 4 days later. Another example of MLB being fan-unfriendly.

If anyone has a way of getting one, let me know...I'd really like to have some Plush-wear for the Brewers trip to Dodger Stadium.

EDIT: Called the Brewers directly and they are shipping one out. It was more expensive, but I've got Plush fever and am a sucker for it.

I basically wrote the same thing in the off-topic Plush t-shirt thread but thought I'd post here as well:

Has anyone else noticed that Nyjer's story about Tony Plush has changed? When he was on the Pirates, he talked about Tony Plush being a gentleman. Yesterday before the game, he did an interview with Telly talking about how Tony Plush is the man you see on the field. Tony Plush is a hardcore, balls-to-the-wall player while Nyjer Morgan is the gentleman and the man who does interviews. I don't know if he got confused and just messed up his characters or if it was a deliberate change. I liked it better when Plush was the gentleman and Morgan was the player because the phrase "Tony Plush is a gentleman" actually fit. Now it doesn't make sense if we go off of what he says in interviews.
This is Jack Burton in the Pork Chop Express, and I'm talkin' to whoever's listenin' out there.

Question: Was Nyjer always this good with the Nationals, and if he was, why did they let him go for next to nothing?
Same reason the Nats gave away Ohka to the Brewers. Someone got upset.
Agree. I think the PR machine of the Nats didn't want him because of the fights he got into last season. Apparently, Ken Macha would make a good manager in Washington... I'll take the guy with a little fire in him.

I agree Rawbecht,

I thought Tony Plush was the gentlemans name? Now Plush is the name of the player on the field?

It's still awesome in my book http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif

This from wikipedia, referenced to a 2009 radio interview in Pittsburgh: "Morgan occasionally refers to himself as Tony Plush, which he states is his "name on the field" [16]"[/sup]

Did you actually order a custom #2 PLUSH jersey or a custom t-shirt? I can't imagine spending how much a custom jersey right from the Brewers would cost, but I am willing to pay the ~$40 for a custom t-shirt. If you were able to order the custom t-shirt directly from them I'll give it a try.

  • 3 months later...
nothing really to add to this thread but it was fun to look back at our initial reactions to the acquisition and comparing them to how we feel about the guy 5 months later.

Watched Telly's interview with Tony Gumbel after the game last night and THAT WAS AWESOME! Just tried to tickle the ball! And Telly was a little surprised about the Plushdamentals....come on Telly, start tweeting so you don't look so lost! Plush is quickly becoming one of my favorite all-time Brewers!
