2011 Brewerfan.net Winter Meetings (Sat 3/26/2011); Great Dane Pub & Brewing Co., Fitchburg

My wife and I have made the trip to Milwaukee each of the last two years for the winter meetings & love the fact that a Madison site would cut our travel in half. Count us in for the 26th if you can get enough to have the event.

OK, that's awesome. With my wife and I, that's at least six, but I'm sure we'll have plenty more.

The person I need to talk to at the Great Dane in Fitchburg will hopefully be getting back to me tomorrow (she's off today). I figured that would be a good area as it should be away from any potential craziness in Madison with any protests and the basketball tourney happening. Also it's pretty accessible even to people coming from the Milwaukee area (if they wish to make the trek).

Guys, being that this get together is in six days, I'm thinking more and more we should just meet at the Fitchburg Great Dane, private room or not. Are people OK with this? If not, I can keep looking...but options are limited at this late in the planning stages.

Thanks for doing all the leg work on this. We would be fine with the Great Dane, private room or not.

Not sure if Babes would be another option or not. Only there once to watch a game, but seemed to have plenty of tv's if people wanted to keep up with WIAA finals or NCAA tourney while we met.

Not sure. I haven't been there. Someone on Twitter brought up that they closed, or maybe it was just one of their locations? I am not familiar with it.

Fixed that for you, bensheeps. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif But seriously, I agree that the Fitchburg Great Dane would be fine even without a private room.

If the Badgers are still playing by Saturday, most any place with a decent sports vibe will be rocking. But now that I've typed that sentence, I've probably just propelled Butler into the Elite Eight.

OK guys, let's just plan on this:

What?

2011 Brewerfan.net Winter Meetings!

Where?

Great Dane Pub & Brewing Co.
2980 Cahill Main
Fitchburg, WI

When?

Saturday, March 26, 7 PM.

Who?

Anyone on Brewerfan.net, and any friends and family who wish to come along!

Additional Info:

This is a meetup for Brewers fans to hang out, have some drinks, maybe have some food, and talk Brewers baseball. Let's meet up around the bar area and go from there. We do not have a private room this year, so we'll just have to make do and go with the flow. It should be a great time!

Heads up guys, if the badgers win on thursday they will probably play on Saturday night which means the great dane (any location) will be 200% packed and fully dedicated to the badger game. If the badgers are scheduled to play on Sat I would think you need to get to any bar at least 2 hours before the game to get a table.

Yeah, I mentioned this in an earlier post. I'd hate to go to a lot of effort seeking out a Plan B only to have Butler win Thursday (and we won't know whether it's even a factor until late Thursday - thanks, TV schedule). It looks like the game broadcast times for Saturday are about 3:20 and 5:40, and they'll surely wait to decide who plays when until the participants are known (so no word until late Thursday/early Friday). Plus any Madison-area sports venue worth its salt would probably be as packed as any Great Dane during a UW Elite Eight game.

Having said that, if anyone has plan B type venues in mind, feel free to share them here. Our last Madison-area winter meeting was at Pooley's on the northeast side, though they too will be all about the Badgers if they play on Saturday. Pooley's is at least quite a large place.

We've got a new HDTV at our house, but our living room isn't very big. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/ohwell.gif

Bottom line is, I think we just have to see how Thursday plays out.

Hawing, this may be the best way to go at this point. Either that or some of us can stand around on your lawn and watch your HDTV through a window http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
