McGehee contract -- Latest: Signs one-year deal (pre-arby); unclear if long-term discussions continue

I was thinking about something along the lines of 3/6. $1M in 2011, $2M in 2012, $3M in 2013. He gets a $1M escalator for reaching 500AB. Add a fourth year option for $6M with a $1M buyout if he reaches 500AB in 2 of the 3 seasons. so the deal would be as high as 4/16, or as low as 3/6.

$6M is ALOT of money for a blue collar player who has only made $500K (twice) in his career. He adds $10M if he plays well over the next 3 years, and probably sets himself up for a few Craig Counsel type contracts after that contract if his play remains steady.

Given he didn't make the majors till age 26 (i believe), I would think he's be thrilled with finishing a career with $20M+ in career earnings.

He's set to make $6m alone in 2013 if he stays healthy, no way he takes that deal.My guess for McGehee salary for the next 4 years assuming eh stays a 2.5-3 win player will be $500k (or whatever he got), $3m, $6m, $8m.
