Former Brewer Jody Gerut retires.

Just read Jody Gerut retired on http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/.

 

I still remember how he hit for the cycle last year, and seemingly fell off the face of the earth immediately after that (not that he was ever any good otherwise).

 

 

Speaking of former cycle-hitting Brewers, does anyone know whatever became of Chad Moeller?

Thanks to Jody Gerut, we will no longer have to see Chad Moeller's name on FSN every time a player is a triple away from the cycle. For that, I am forever grateful.

 

I hadn't realized Gerut was 33 years old. I guess this isn't terribly surprising.

 

Moeller signed a minor league deal with the Rockies in January. Last year he played for the Yankees in AAA, and got 15 AB's for the big club. He has yet to hit another cycle.

Gerut seemed to check out when he got hurt. Too bad, always seemed like a decent guy. That Stanford education will come in handy whatever he does next.

 

That cycle game sure was fun.
