Apple IPhone (Is this the best phone ever?)

Trombone482
In my opinion the iPhone is one overpriced phone. And I don't like it that you have to sign a two year contract with AT&T. I will be going with the 16GB Meizu minOne, when it is supposed to come out in Q4 of this year.

My biggest question wil be weather you can use the music as ringtones. That would be awesome!! Imagine some of the songs that you could use as ringers.

Nope. No song ringtones on the iPhone.

I think the key thing to emphasize is that the iPhone is not a phone. It is a handheld computer that calls people. $600 for a small beautiful laptop may not seem as outrageous to many.

I will not purchase one because I am uber-frugal, but I love that they exist. As a web developer, this is a huge step up from early cell phone web browsers. Kudos.

I don't see what the big deal is, other than it an Apple. Sort of like the Ipod, great marketing but there are many other MP3 players that are just as good if not better.

The Iphone ties you into AT&T, and I personally hate that network in WI. I get blazing fast internet on my Motorola Q, same tning with my Treo before that. Plus better integration with Outlook, better call quality, more phone features, etc.

The Iphone is nice, but hardly revolutionary. I'll keep my Q, which I got for $99 and gives me more features and better service than Iphone/AT&T.

Can you do an MLB game cast over the iPhone?

It depends how robust their browser is but I assume it supports adobe flash.

And would you be able to use the audio subscription to MLB.com with it?

I doubt it's fast enough and that's the number one complaint. Is it even dial up speeds?

I remember reading a review in the Wall Street Journal saying that the iPhone doesn't support flash at this point, but might be able to in the future with an update. In my mind, that's a huge blow in terms of its web browsing because it's almost rare to see a website that doesn't use flash these days.

I personally am gonna wait for the 2nd maybe 3rd generation. By then they will have it perfected and it will be unlocked for all carriers. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif Sill love this though. Maybe get it if my current IPod dies

500 for the phone itself + 24 mo. @ 60 bucks. No thanks, I'll stick to my old cell phone and use my Video iPod. I just wont have internet wherever I go, I can live with it now. That being said however though I think it is really a great product, and I am excited for the competition that this will spark. I wouldnt mind a cheaper alternative, though they are out there already.

Just have to say this, went to mayfair today to see a movie and stopped at the Apple store. I made one call and texted some one so I could test it out. One word can be said WOW!!! I love the intuitive interface and the quality of this product. No I didn't drink the Apple Kool-aid and buy one but I was really impressed. Its a great device and I will consider getting one as soon as it becomes cheaper and its available on someone onther then AT&T. Oh and $60 dollars for the plan would be nothing as my average phone bill now is $76

Im sure its pretty cool and all but what is it really doing but making our lives much more complicated? Cell phones have done nothing but drive up the amount of hours we work. I love technology but it seems like it does the opposite of what is suggested. It simply makes our lives more difficult.

Terrace,

People are always reachable. No longer do we have time to devote to the tasks, and people, that we should. The ability to always be reached leads to the ability to always be absent. Simply put we spend more time working and away from the important things than the average person did 100 or 200 years ago. I have cell phone and it is convenient but im not so sure it has improved the quality of my life.

sorry brew, I don't follow your logic. The thing about a cell phone or any phone is that u don't have to answer it if u don't want to. All I was saying is that this is an addictive device, its fun and cool to use. Weather or not u actually get one or not, the fun of the device actually makes you want to get one

I also wonder how the iPhone would cause intrusions that we don't already get with our peon phones.

My cells don't interfere with my life. People who contact me know that I generally don't 'do' voice mail unless it's a special situation that warrants it. (If I used the phones for business purposes or it was paid for by the boss, I'd have to think differently.)

Trombone, please avoid using AOL-speak ("u" instead of "you") in your posts. Thanks.

That’s the only thing Chicago’s good for: to tell people where Wisconsin is.

I hate people that call and don't leave a message. You called me obviously for something, leave a message. Let me know why you called me. Me personally I like the the idea of the visual-voice mail. Being able to select which messages you listen to.
