Top 5 shameless shows guys watch...

jaybird2001wi

I am on my way to watching another episode of Army Wives (a hot female coworker forced me to watch it at work) and somehow I am now attached to the show. What shows are you folks watching that makes you ashamed to admit to your closest friends? Mine are (reasons in parenthesis):

1. Army Wives (Roxy is cute)

2. Grey's Anatomy (Katherine Heigl, star of the new movie "Knocked Up" and Meredith Grey)

3. WNBA Basketball featuring Becky Hammon of the San Antonio Silver Stars and Lauren Jackson of the Seattle Storm.

4. Extreme Home Makeover (I am somewhat of a fan of carpentry shows)

5. Rachael Ray's Food Network shows (gives me good food ideas for when I finally move out and need to start thinking of how to cook more creatively instead of eating frozen pizzas and chicken nuggets every night)

Rachael Ray is the perfect example of a gal that you don't really think is all that great, and then your friend starts dating her, and the more you hang out with her, the more you like her.

Everything my wife has made of hers is very good, though loaded with calories and butter.

I'd say Dr. Phil, but I'm not ashamed of watching it. It's interesting watching people who have train wreck lives or are completely clueless on how society works. And Dr. Phil holds no punches. I used to watch Oprah more when I was in high school. It used to help me take an afternoon nap.

Rachael Ray and Giada DeLaurentis on the Food Network, for sure. I like Giada more, but I'm an Italian food geek.

I like watching infomercials sometimes too, though I never buy anything. You never know when you're going to see a flashlight/laser/pepper sprayer, or something that cleans out your colon. Yay!

I'd say that the #1 shameful show I've been watching is Desperate Housewives. I've never watched it religiously, but now that it's usually on twice a week, I see it a lot more.

As far as Rachel Ray goes, it drives me nuts when she gets her hands full of flour and oil, then rifles through her utensil drawer. Of course, someone else is doing her cleaning for her.

I'll give Rachel credit, though. She ate at Mader's for about eight bucks.

That’s the only thing Chicago’s good for: to tell people where Wisconsin is.

I used to like Rachel Ray, but now she has become so marketed and is all over everything that she's lost her appeal to me. For me, a lot of her cuteness was in her small-timey-ness. Now that it's turned to "buy my stuff and watch my show" her image feels too contrived, even though she hasn't really changed. Once you show up on a soup can, you're dead to me.

It's not shameful because it was a carpentry show, but I used to watch some HGTV show with a cute lady-carpenter.

I used to watch Great Hotels because of the host, too. That's probably my most shameful.

I second that, Toby. Italian food and Giada, what more could someone possibly want or need in a TV show?

Haven't caught the show in awhile, but I'll invariably stop the channel surfing when "Everyday Italian" is on.

My shameful show is "PlayMania" on GSN (with the caveat: I only watch when Shandi is on). Gotta love the concept: attractive female hostess entices people to spend $5 a night text-messaging into the show, for a chance to answer a trivia question for a few hundred dollars. Add in the gorgeous blonde who will say some of the dumbest things when put in front of a camera for 2-straight hours, and that's something worth tuning in for.

I'm a big fan of a lot of the MTV shows- Laguna Beach, The Hills, The Real World, Road Rules, RW/RR Challenge, My Super Sweet 16. It's pretty sad since I'm a 36 year old male but I can't stop watching.

The Hills and Laguna Beach. I think one day last summer my friend and I watched a LB marathon for like an entire Sunday. It was sad, I think mostly for the comedy factor of how spoiled the people in the OC are and making fun of all the guys on the show that think there all that.

about 4 years ago I was known to be able to recount nearly any episode of Seventh Heaven if given the prompt "that one where..."

I'm going to choose to pity you.

You mean like "The one where Mary gets into trouble"? or "The Camdens invite a troubled youth to live with them"?

Remember: the Brewers never panic like you do.
