MLB.tv 2011

Polish,

I had MLB.tv last year and own an Iphone. Last year, I purchased the atbat ap for 14.99 I believe. I was able to watch the games live on my iphone, either audio feed and a highlight videos section that updated approx 4-6 minutes after the play was over. If I was at the office for example, I could just watch the important plays as they were loaded approx 4-6 minutes after the play concluded. So I think I paid 14.99 one time for the atbat ap and 14.99/month for the mlb.tv subscription. This allowed me to watch games on my pc or on my iphone. That price certainly beats the on-demand extra innings package from my cable provider.

This year, I am planning on getting an ipad and getting the same subscriptions as last year. Then, I can purchase the appropriate a/v cables from Apple and run the game from my ipad to my flat panel hdtv when I so desire. The cost of an ipad not withstanding, I'll still save money or doing it by Extra Innings. Obviously an ipad is a costly device but will have other uses naturally. Plus the ability to take the game broadcast anywhere! The only problem I am having with this method is not knowing how much data a game broadcast uses. My understanding is that new ipad purchasers now cant get an "unlimited data" option for AT@T any longer. So, if I am away from my home wifi, I might have an issue.

They do condensed games with MLB.tv premium... would assume they do it with basic, too.

I am quite unhappy that the new MLB At Bat iPhone app requires OS4.0. I have a first gen iPhone that still works perfectly, but can't get the app because the phone is too old. Sigh.

Same boat here, I have a 1G iTouch and I went to download the app and it tells me it requires iOS4, not cool.

Games will be blacked out if you live anywhere in Wisconsin or Iowa or in parts of Minnesota, Illinois, or Michigan.

This information should help, too.

Wikipedia's MLB.com page[/url]:

[/b]

Games are blacked out to all users within the theoretical home television territory assigned to each team, irrespective of whether local television stations carry local games of those teams.… During the post-season, all games are blacked out in the United States, Canada, Japan, South Korea, Guam and the US Virgin Islands. In all other countries and territories, no exclusivity rights have been granted and MLB.com is able to broadcast all games.

Any game that is blacked out (for any reason) is made available as an archived game approximately 90 minutes after the conclusion of each game.

MLB.com can check a viewer's origin by using an e-mail address's domain during registration, by using credit card billing information, or by IP address, but the inaccuracy of the ISP-based targeting used leaves many fans unable to watch games on MLB.com.

That’s the only thing Chicago’s good for: to tell people where Wisconsin is.

Anyone know why I would be having continual stuttering when playing through the MLB.tv PS3 app, but not when I play on my PC? I can't even watch on the PS3 right now because it is stuttering so bad. I just checked on speedtest.net and got 17.5 MBPS, so no problems there. PS3 is connected via LAN to same router as PC. Just frustrating to pay all the money for internet and MLB.tv and not be able to watch it on my 42 in.

It's a known issue, according to the MLB.tv support forums (in which you'll find many complaints from users). I have a PS3 and a Roku box, and neither is functioning the way they should. Roku had the same performance issues last year....it's somewhat better this year, but frankly if you promote a service and sell it to me for $130, is it too much to ask that it actually work as intended.

Frustrating.

Looking great tonight on PS3. Just about flawless, only thing I notice is audio quality once in a while, but after last night I'll take it. Hopefully the issues have been worked out. Shouldn't this be what spring training is for, oh that's right, they didn't have spring training games for the PS3. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif

Great to hear.

Since Extra Innings is still doing their free preview week on cable, I've been watching that (in standard def) and hoping that all the MLB.TV bugs get worked out by the end of the week. Sounds like they are making progress.

Reading through the comments on MLBtv's user forum is kind of sad. Has anyone had any success streaming with Roku either this year or last? I feel like I'm going to have to either buy another computer or a Roku/AppleTV/PS3 if I want to avoid computer fights with the fiancee.

You don't have an Adam Wainwright. Easily the best gentlemen in all of sports. You don't have the amount of real good old American men like the Cardinals do. Holliday, Wainwright, Skip, Berkman those 4 guys are incredible people

Iowa looks like a baseball fan's hell. Looks like games for Brewers, Twins, Cubs, White Sox, Cardinals and Royals are all blacked out. Factor in the 6 additional teams those teams play each night and that is almost half of major league baseball blacked out in Iowa, a place too far to really drive to see any team play.
