why do you love baseball?

jason21nl

speaking of great quotes about loving baseball... i've always loved this one:

"Man may penetrate the outer reaches of the universe, he may solve the very secret of eternity itself but for me, the ultimate human experience is to witness the flawless execution of the hit-and-run".

I love competition. I enjoy a struggle between teams or people. I can watch Wimbleton all day. Golf bores me, since it's more of a struggle with oneself and how that ranks with others. Baseball has the duel between pitcher and batter, battery and base stealer, manager against manager, and team versus team.

I love order and numbers. I love manipulating numbers (although not quite to the extent of some sabermen). Almost everything in baseball can be categorized. That can't be said in other sports. How well a SS covers a TE on a Go route isn't put into numbers well.

I love the thinking of the game. Throwing an 0-2 fastball eye high looks like a missed pitch by some fans. But you can delve deeper and find that sometimes a ball is thrown on purpose to set up the next pitch.

There are more, but I have to get going at work.

EA Sports...It's in the game...until we arbitrarily decide to shut off the server.
