Brett Gardner?

Not saying we have an excess of pitching or anything but would we match up anywhere in our rotation/bullpen to make a trade for Brett Gardner? I love this guy and think he would fit perfectly at the top of our lineup and playing CF. With the Yankees signing the Freddy Garcias of the world I wonder if they would be interested in trading for a young upside pitcher like Parra? I know I know...Parra can't handle Milwaukee pressure how would he handle New York pressure? But this doesn't stop the fact that the guy has some legit pitching talent that just needs to click, see de La Rosa, Jorge.

Would a Manny Parra/Carlos Gomez for Gardner work? It may seem light on our end but these are the type of risks the Yankees can afford to make. I think most of us would be shocked to see the Yankees take this, but what would it take to get Gardner?

may have been a possibility if the yanks signed crawford. he would be a great get for the crew. hes a scrappy guy with great speed, good defense, and seems to get on base. doesnt really seem like a yankee guy though(if that makes sense). i like the kid alot but dont really see the brewers matching up with the yankees. they already bought all the positions that the brewers could help out with.dh and 3b are set so no need for gamel or mcgehee, the brewers dont have the mlb ready pitching they would look for, highly doubt they would be interested in parra. their bullpen is really strong, so no need for braddock or axford. its too bad they cant trade draft picks in baseball.

Brian Cashman gameplanned from day 1 of the last offseason with Gardner as the Yankees' starting LF. Not only would Manny Parra+Gomez not be enough to pry him away, but I'd be surprised to see the Yankees deal him at all.

cwolf2012[/b]]It'd be great to have him, but there's no way we don't break the team to trade enough to get him. We'd probably have to trade Gallardo to get him.
If that's true then the Yankees truly overvalue Gardner. Gallardo's worth to the Brewers is far greater than Gardner so the Yankees would have to seriously overpay. The only way a deal could be consummated would be if the Yankees believed Parra's potential could be harnessed by Larry Rothschild OR if they wanted Randy Wolf.

Brett Gardner put up a 5.4 WAR season last year as a sophomore. It was not sarcasm. The Yankees see him as a huge part of the future.

Now, do I think he's actually that good? Probably not, but he's quick, gets on base very well (>10% BB rate for pretty much every season including the minors, >15% for most seasons), and plays really really good defense. This guy is very valuable, and we have nothing in our system they would want except Gallardo (or Greinke).

They would have to send more than just Gardner to get Gallardo, but Gallardo would have to be in the package. Something like Gardner plus one of the 3 B's (their top 3 pitching prospects) would probably be what could happen.

Would anyone of you seriously trade Gardner for Parra and Gomez if you're the Yankees?

Nah, Sizemore had a lot more power. Plus he's already entering his age-27 season, so there's not a whole lot of realistic room for growth. I actually wouldn't be surprised if he doesn't ever post a better OBP than he did last season. His '10 line is probably roughly his ceiling at this point.
