My friend bought Bomberman 93 for the virtual console and really digs it (he had only played the original before.

On a related note, has anyone else been really disappointed with the virtual console releases thus far? It's probably my only complaint with the Wii. The started alright, with Golden Ax, Sim City, Bonks, etc, but then there was crap until X-mas day, and has been crap since. The only game I've gotten is Castlevania IV. I want Mario 2, Punch Out, Metroid, Ocarina of Time, and actual classic games, not Soccer on NES.

Did the new Zelda burn everyone out or maybe there's not as much time to play after the holidays?

I've played the tar out of Madden 07. The kicking took awhile, but now I think it's the best football game I've ever played. My friend and I created the Beloit Bandits primarily out of our drinking buddies, and we're on season 2.

My only beef is that it's often really hard to throw to the receiver assigned to the "up" direction.

Nintendo of America seems to be far more restrained with releasing the "good" Virtual Console games than their Japanese counterpart, based on the lists I've seen. I don't even have any VC purchases yet.

Re: Zelda. I wouldn't say that I'm burned out, but I haven't had much time to play Wii this month. (Basically, I haven't touched the thing since turning Pro in Bowling.) If I'm watching TV, my DS is far more accommodating (Animal Crossing: WW & Elite Beat Agents are both great games) The few times that I have found the time to game on the TV for an hour or two, Final Fantasy XII is winning out over Zelda. (Remember that the Final Fantasy series is the reason why I'm still leaning towards a PS3 over XBox 360.)

Yeah, I'd also like to see quicker support, nothing like having to wait to pay too much for twenty-year-old games but I'm glad they have the set Monday schedule at least. Conker's Bad Fur Day, Super Mario World, some Dr Mario and another version of Bomberman would probably be at the top of the list for me. I wonder how their shot on playing online will go. For example I think through the Xbox Live Arcade you can buy Contra and play online with someone, and that sounds like a cool addition to an old game.

I like Madden a lot for a sports "launch game" too. I've only really played single games and the minigames but the controls were what sold me. It's one of the things I'd been hoping for years for, realistic sports without 15 buttons to master. It's too bad NBA Live's the only show around for basketball and there's no 2k series, because I'm really curious to see how the controllers work for that. I have a tough time getting the jukes right even though the stiff-arm usually works for me. Also really like how different styles work better for different running backs now.

The 360 seems cool in its way, but if I'd gone that route it would've been a PS3 instead, and a long wait for games and the price to come down.

I just have this guess that Nintendo is slow playing the virtual console releases to have some more potential releases and such. I mean they could realisitcally release like all of that in a week or so I'd guess, but it's possible that would hurt their new game sales when people sat down and decided they could buy up to 10 games they know they like for the price of one

My Wii broke after having it only two days http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/frown.gif I shipped it back however I probably won't see it for a couple of weeks. Has anyone else had problems with thier Wii or heard of someone who has so I don't feel like the only person in the world with a broken Wii.

For anyone still looking for a system, this is from http://www.nintendowiifanboy.com/2007/01/17/best-buy-holding-units-for-sunday/

"...Still, we feel as though we owe you guys a bit of assistance. And here it is: apparently, a (reputable) tipster has given word that Best Buy is stockpiling units for a January 21st (Sunday) release. Each store should have at least fifteen units, and possibly around forty, but Best Buy will be announcing this lovely treasure trove in a weekly store ad quite soon. A word to the wise: the Wii is still hotter than Alpha Centauri, so don't think you won't need to work for it. Wake up early. You won't regret it."

How long would anyone guess before Nintendo makes a wireless nunckuk? Hope they don't leave it up to Mad Catz and Pelican.

What game or games (outside the Virtual Console) is everyone most looking forward to right about now? I guess it looks like Sonic, Mario and Resident Evil will be staggered and delayed enough that I won't have to decide.

For unannounced stuff, I'm hoping for a new Burnout, but not very optimistic after they didn't bring Burnout 3 to Gamecube. I'd like to see how Viewtiful Joe would work on Wii, too.

How do you connect the Wii to the internet? I just got DSL and am trying to connect. The Wii won't recognize a wireless connection or a wired USB connection. What do I do? The Wii does locate my wireless network, it just won't connect.

It was kind of slow through the whole process, but mine just found the wireless network and connected. I had to enter the security key for the WEP but it's found the connection since. Don't know if the USB would work without the adapter though.

never mind I figured it out. Pretty cool to be on the net on your tv (I realize this was possible before, but I never did it).

So, has anyone bought Sim City from the virtual console? I really want to get it but I have no idea if it is a good version of it or not. I only played it on computers, never on a console. The other games I want (that are available so far) are Bomberman '93 and Toe Jam and Earl. The stupid classic controllers are never at any store I go to though so I guess I have to wait.

Also, Mario 64 might be cool, but I never liked it when it first came out. I've never really gotten into 3D platformers.

I just realized that they have the original Legend of Zelda on there too. That could be fun, but it's been so long since I played it that I have no memory of whether I liked it or not.

finally was able to get a wii though walmart.com with 6 games in a package...i'll have to return most of the gamers, since i can't really afford that much stuff..

however, the games i got were:

zelda

warioware

excite truck

need for speed carbon

elebits

trauma center

so, at least i have some decent options to choose from on what i keep/return

I would keep zelda and warioware (for the multi-player fun), and return the rest. Elebits & Trauma Center are great rentals, NFS Carbon stinks from what I've heard.... I haven't played Excite Truck, because I'm not really into racing games.

i got warioware today and its fun, i think between that, wii sports, and the soon out wii play with wii remote, you should have enought to have a blast with your wii. I will get Zelda someday, but don't see a need for it right now. I played the heck out of wii sports, and i can tell warioware is going to be fun.

So I downloaded Wario's Woods and ToeJam and Earl yesterday. Wario's Woods seems pretty cool, it's a pretty original puzzle game. ToeJam and Earl, however, was a bit of a disappointment. I guess not every classic game ages as well as the Mario games do..

Did anyone get a system today who wanted one? It sounds like there're supposed to be enough available now for people to get one off the shelves from this point forward.

Hey Josh, did you get a chance to make your own soundtrack for Excite Truck with an SD card, and was it easy if you did?

I like Wario's Woods too, haven't tried SimCity though. WarioWare's still going strong with everything unlocked.

Got mine this morning. I had originally set my alarm for 5:00 a.m., but I overslept until 6. I got to the Target on the eastside of Madison around 6:30 due to the poor road conditions. I saw a handful of people sitting in their cars, but nobody was waiting outside the door. Once I walked up and started waiting, the floodgates started and about 8 other people lined up behind me.

East side Target had 31 systems. About 10 people had to get out of line and run over to Best Buy to start to wait. West side Madison Target had 61 systems. (The west side of Madison is the more wealthy side of town.)
