Just out of curiosity (and because I don't intend to let the Wii Fanboyism die), who has pre-ordered the Wii?

I haven't, and am starting to get a bit concerned about finding one at launch. I had picked up my GameCube within a week or two of its launch, so I hadn't really expected to have trouble finding one....but it seems like demand is going to be much stronger for the Wii.

I'm planning on going to my local Wal-Mart at midnight. If you have a 24 hour Wal-Mart, that might be a choice for you. Otherwise I've called Target, Best Buy, and Circuit City and all the stores in my area (Rockford/Janesville) will have some units. Nintendo is pretty well stocked on Wiis and they don't expect to sell out until Monday or Tuesday.

My plan is to go to the 24hr Walmart by me that will sell them at midnight. I will probably show up there at around 10pm. If I don't get one, I will head over to Target/Best Buy and see if there is a line. I know the Target by me is getting around 70, so that will be my fallback plan. I need to call Best Buy and Walmart. It would suck to wait in a line and not get one.

Is anyone else woried about not being able to get component cables. I don't wanna ever have to see the Wii not in 480p.

That is definately an option too, I didn't think about the 24 hour Wal Marts as an option. I was going to get to best buy early and hope for the best

So these lines that people are starting outside of Target and whatnot...are they legally binding or anything? My roomates want to get a Wii and are planning to simply show up about 2 hrs before the store opens step to the front of the line, deal with any hasseling and then make a run for the Wii. Would there be anything wrong with this (besides morally)?

I'm the one in the apt who has the car, and I told them I will drive them simply because I want to see what happens when a bunch of nerdy guys (not trying to generalize, it's just that I saw guys lined up at Target Thursday afternoon and they weren't exactly the body building/fighting type) attempt to stop my 2 roomates who are very fit 20yr old college kids who have had their fair share of fights.

I am not a lawyer.

In my best estimation, the lines are in fact legally binding, especially in the state of Wisconsin.

I am assuming (because Target is owned by the French), that they have ample stock of the PS3, but are making world-class citizens like your roommates wait in line, because waiting in line is unAmerican and de facto is unpatriotic.

Legally speaking, your e pluburus unum rights are waived once you enter into a legally binding contract with a non-US entity like Target.

Because of the Habeus Corpem act of 1978, (thank you very much Jimmy Carter), Target is considered foreign soil, and in fact is considered a save-haven and embassy for France.

So -- the good news about butting in line, is that while you are not entering into a legal contract with the French, -- the down side, is that you will be considered a French national -- our activist judicial branch made this law in 1989 in (Clarence Thomas v. Penthouse Forum, French Edition).

While your roommates may be skilled in fisticuffs and tomfoolery, it won't matter because, part of your roomates deprogramming will include eating snails and watching hours upon hours of French cinema.

You will probably never see your roommates again. However, all of this is legal, which is why it is so important to vote to ensure that the French do not have these loopholes to work with.

Hope this helps.

You're lame for even associating with people like that.

I'm 29 years old (for one more day http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif ) and waited overnight for a 360 (no, i wouldn't do it again but it was an interesting experience). I can assure you if your two "special" buddies had shown up to flex their muscles, I wouldn't have been the only one showing them the curb. They would have gotten stomped, even if it was with a bunch of Mountain Dews and DS lites.

The non-macho answer is that even if your 2 buddies are such bad asses that they could physically intimidate the 30+ people in line, they'd be called out the second the doors opened. There will be retailer employees right at the door.
