You can now watch YouTube videos from your Wii. That's pretty cool.

you could always do that. The first thing my wife and I did when we downloaded the Trial Version back in January was watch some Louis CK clips on YouTube.

Really, I didn't think so. Maybe I was confusing it with MySpace video, which you still cannot watch. I learned that today.

Yeah, youtube always worked because it uses Flash video instead of MPG, AVI, or Real.

About 2 months ago we had a bunch of people over and we were literally watching youtube instead of television. It was one of those moments where I realized I was in the future.... (flat screen on the wall, a bunch of 20-somethings calling up on-demand video). Great stuff.

I'm pretty pumped up to get a Wii tomorrow. I got to play one a few weeks ago and I was pretty impressed...Zelda is the only videogame that I really ever got into but I can see myself playing this one quite a bit. Any game recommendations from the guys/gals that have the system? How does the virtual console work? If I pop in my Zelda for gamecube does it use the motion sensor controls for swinging the sword or do I have to use the regular buttons? If anyone has any advice for first time set-up or anything like that, let me know. I have a feeling I won't be getting much done in the next week or so, although with exams coming up that might be terrible. Thanks a lot.

No such luck, the motion sensing only works with Wii games (also, you need GameCube controllers to play GameCube games).

It's really easy, you just need your wireless network info. Then, when you are online, go to the Wii Shop channel and download the internet channel and the everybody votes channel (the internet channel is only free for a limited time).

Then you should be set. Just make your Mii's and download whatever virtual console games you want and get playing. Really, you don't even need to be connected to the internet to use the Wii.

Also, you can rearrange the channels somehow. I think by holding B while pointing at a channel, but I forget. Anyway, you can arrange them to whatever preference you have.

Thanks a lot. This thing is a blast to play. I'm gonna have to fight my dad for the controllers though...he is absolutely floored by the boxing and has been playing non-stop for the past few hours. No such luck on the wireless internet...Ill guess Ill have to go to Best Buy to add that. Thanks for the help.

Just to ask, are you saying that you're having problems with Nintendo's Wi-Fi connection....or that you don't have a Wireless router (& broadband connection)? If you have all the equipment, we should be able to guide you through getting connected. (If I could help my parents get their SSID's in-line, I think I can help anybody.)

I've picked up a Wii myself and my wife and I are having a lot of fun. Bowling is incredibly intuitive. (I've created miis of The Dude, Walter, Donnie, and The Jesus specifically for that.) And I like the fact that Golf is really a finesse game. I've played a smattering of the other sport games as well and like them well enough.

I'm not sure I understand the point of Wii Friends at this point. Anyone care to explain the concept?

Sorry, should have elaborated on the internet thing. I just don't have a wireless router yet. Ill be running over to grab one from Best Buy or one of those places tomorrow probably. I'm really interested in the virtual console and being able to check out some of the other capabilities that you need a internet connection for. I think I'm in love with the golf...as someone mentioned, its nice that its a finesse game. I'll also be picking up Tiger Woods tomorrow and I hope its the same way. Does anyone know if they are planning to release RBI Baseball or Blades of Steel for the virtual console? I'm also hoping for one of my favorite games of all time, Cobra Triangle, to make an appearance.

I'm hooked on Tiger right now. I haven't really played any of the other games in the series, so I have nothing to compare it to. The controls can be really frustrating, as what you feel should be a perfect swing sometimes produces a killer slice.

My remedy for this has been to swing Wii-bowling style. My shots are now as straight as an arrow, 110% power each time.

Speaking of which..what do everyone's Wii bowling/fitness scores look like? My highest bowling score is around 230 and my lowest fitness age has been 24..what kills me is when they make me do the boxing tests - those are hard.

you can (sort of) cheat on those by saying no to the question about whether or not you have access to a nunchuk. Then the Wii won't include any boxing mini-games in your test.

Yeah, I realize this..but my roommates and I have agreed to play whatever is given to you. Not so much fun on days when you get pegged in the face by two tennis balls at once by your trainer.

I've got a 240 in bowling, but my wife has a 247 -- which is incredible frustrating... :)

I've found that the ranking for bowling is very difficult. In order to stay above 1000 (pro) you really need to consistently bowl about a 175-185.

And once you get to the 1200-1400 area it gets ridiculously tough. One bad game and you drop like a rock. Anyway, as far as game recommendations go, I would go with Paper Mario. It's like an old school Mario platformer except it's more puzzle oriented than jumping and killing and with boss fights.

Maybe rent Tiger Woods first. I have two friends that bought it and one traded it in a week later while the other sold it on ebay.

Yeah I am still not sold on the Tiger Woods for Wii. I have it for PS3 and love it. It is really hard to play and doesn't have all the features the other Tiger games do. I would suspect next years version will be much better, but I think they rushed it out.

I'm playing Animal Crossing with it right now. It's an N64 game that was ported to the Gamecube, that I'm now running on my wii. Graphics aren't very good. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif

I'm also planning on getting Resident Evil 4 for the wii soon.
