I-pod question

uecker9

I just put a cd on my i-pod, like I have many times before, but the artist doesn't show up listed. The tunes are all on there and listed when I go to albums, songs, and compilations but no artist listing.

I do have other songs by the same artist off different records so his name is on there too. Anyone ever run into this? I went back in and typed the name but still nothing. Is he a vampire maybe?

Do I delete and try again? Do I say screw it since it's loaded? It is a double cd w/ 39 songs so I'd rather just leave it. Thanks to anyone who can help me.

Without knowing the type of I-pod you have it is difficult to say for sure, but I do know that if you recently upgraded to i-tunes 7.3 many people have had problems with i-pods. Best solution is to go to apple.com and find a support discussion that describes your problem. I have always had my questions answered there.

I didn't run into this exact problem, but I did have a similar issue with respect to cover art.

Updating the track info for the file on your computer generally won't affect the status of the file on your iPod. Try deleting the songs off of your iPod, and then re-downloading the songs (with updated track info) back onto the iPod.

Even though this is a different iPod issue, I'll make this into a general iPod thread...

I am in the market for an FM transmitter. I have the Griffin iTrip, and while it works "OK", I don't love it. I'm looking for a new transmitter for my car, I can just keep using the iTrip when I use one at home.

Any recomendations?

I'm on my second Belkin Tunecast II. It works.

In fact, the only reason why I had to buy the second one was because the AC adapter for the first one stopped working properly.

(FYI, there are two versions of the TuneCast II -- the black version has a car adapter, while the white one has an adapter to connect to a separate power adapter which costs about $20. The tuners themselves cost roughly the same amount.)

It's programable over nearly the full FM spectrum (I think it cuts off at the low end), and the signal strength is strong enough to overwrite a weak OTA signal (which is necessary if your car gets good reception). My biggest gripe is that it's "power saver" feature has been known to kick in during quiet songs or podcasts; it's fixable by raising the volume lock on your iPod, but it's still a pain. If you don't have a car adapter, it will devour AAA's (but I think most transmitters share that problem). It's also kind of pricy, between $30-35.

I'm curious to see if anyone else knows of a better alternative.

I've been looking at the TuneBase, actually, because I don't really have a place to put my iPod (and I don't want to mount anything to my dash), with that one it has that metal neck and what appears to be a pretty solid dock.

I'm looking to buy one, but am not very familiar with them.

I'm looking at the Nano. Basically my question is what is the difference between the first generation and second. Both would be 4GB. The 2nd gen is listed as 10 dollars more than the original. What's the better bargain?

When you put it on your computer, did you mark the "part of a compilation" button? If you did, it won't show up with the artist's name, but all of the songs are on it. For some reason, if a song is part of a compilation, it will not show up under the artist's name in iTunes (thus, won't be on the iPod either). I had that problem. Just go into the compilations in iTunes and unselect any song that you do not want as a part of the compilation, then put them back on your iPod and everything should work.
