Weeks' entension?

Why no news of any progress? Could it be that he told Melvin that he's waiting until season's end to talk, and THAT motivated Melvin to make the Greinke trade. It makes sense to me, especially since the local media hasn't been talking about Weeks for a couple of weeks now.
