Gomez on the block

Recommended Posts

Maybe at best the Brewers could get a #5 starter or decent starting pitching prospect that's about a year away. I can't imagine them netting more in return, and what I'm throwing out there may be a stretch.

I'd like to see them get rid of him though. I don't think his personality is a good fit in Milwaukee...a little too sure of himself and his abilities.

The Royals are reportedly looking for a RH hitting outfielder. They're the kind of team that has an opportunity to let Gomez take his lumps with everyday playing time & hope he puts it together. Of course, they've seen him as a Twins player, so maybe they don't have any interest.

If they're looking at Franceour and Melky Cabrera, I see no reason why they wouldn't look at Gomez.

Not sure what kind of player we'd even get back, if we even get something besides cash considerations.

the Braves can offer Beachy (but only for the right hitter) because of their starting pitching depth:

Hudson

Lowe

Hanson

Jurrjens

Minor

Medlen (expected back from TJ surgery by July/August)

Teheran (plan is to promote him to ATL by midseason.....similar timeline to Tommy Hanson in 2009)

the last 5 are all 24 or younger

....Frank Wren said he's still looking for another LOOGY to complete his bullpen

If the Braves are looking to shed Kawakami, Gomez and Stetter for Kawakami might work.
That makes no sense why would the Brewers have to add something when the Braves are looking to dump Kawakami? I could see something like Gomez and Braddock for Beachy and Kawakami this would be dependent on if the Brewers would be taking on the majority of Kawakami's salary. If not something else would need to be added.
