De La Rosa re-signs with the Rockies, 3 years/$32M

And That

Per MLB Trade Rumors.

"De La Rosa agreed to a three-year, $32MM deal. The pitcher maintained

flexibility by securing a player option on the third year, while the

Rockies added a fourth year club option at $11MM."

I'm glad the Brewers didn't offer enough to sign him, if this is what it took.

If they like hard-throwing-but-erratic lefties this much, maybe they'd give us something for Parra.

Seriously, this seems like a lot of risk to take on a guy like de la Rosa. However, if this is the market for pitching, Melvin is going to have a hard time filling out the 2011 rotation.

I don't know why, but I totally read the thread title as "DeRosa Re-signs with the Rockies, 3 years/$32M" and basically had a heart attack that somebody paid Mark DeRosa that kind of coin.

On topic, de la Rosa is a good pitcher and I was very impressed of what he has been able to accomplish as a member of the Rockies, as opposed to his average-to-mediocre stints with the Royals and Brewers. That said, this is a very risky signing by Colorado. Maybe he's just a late bloomer, so maybe it'll work out fine.
