Possible Non-Tender pickup: Joel Zumaya

Bombers

There are some talks that Zumaya may be non tendered. Is this a potential risk/reward option here that the Brewers should take? I know he is coming off an elbow injury. (I am not sure how serious as I don't follow the Tigers.) His minor league stats were very good as a starting pitcher, so what about trying to move him into that role to limit his appearances?

He's basically been injured since 2005 so I wouldn't do anything crazy to get him despite his strong numbers for a young guy in the minors. I would probably pick him up on a minor league contract as a scrap heap guy. One of the reports I saw said that his elbow should be ready by Spring Training.

I agree with the minor league contract. Good risk/reward and no ligament damage to the elbow.
