College Basketball 2010-2011

Nice, easy win for the Badgers against an opponent that was largely predicted to win this game. Great 2nd half all around.

It really wasn't easy, which makes it all the more impressive imo. I always feel the sign of a really good team is to be able to just pull away in what was previously a closely-fought game, and that's exactly what the Badgers did today. Aside from team height, they probably won't see a more intensely pressuring defensive team the rest of the way.

The Badgers were favored and were probably picked by 80% of those who made out a bracket. Belmont was a trendy pick for an upset, though I'm shocked Princeton wasn't with their history of upsets.

So on one hand, Belmont wasn't a trendy pick, coming in at only your highly scientific calculation of 20%. Except that they *were* a trendy pick, at a whopping 20%.

I guarantee you at least 20% of people picked Princeton to win, but I doubt much of it had to do with the ghosts of Pete Carril's teams.

Big East not having a great start so far considering they were higher seeds in all games but one. They still have Cuse, Marq, and Georgetown to play. They are currently 5-3. Now if those 3 win it turns into a pretty good first round, but when you are higher seeds in 9 out of 11 games you figure to have a good first two days and that has not been the case. Not saying the conference is overrated, just interesting.

After a not so exciting last night and first batch today it has picked up today. Nova goes down late, Memphis and Zona locked up in a good one. FSU vs Texas AM should be close as well.

What is crazy about the Michigan/Tennessee game is that Michigan won by 30 without making a free throw

I thought there were plenty of close games yesterday -- Richmond-Vandy, Morehead St.-Louisville, Butler-ODU, UCLA-MSU, Temple-PSU, UK-Princeton. The widest margin of victory in any of those games was 3 points. So far this tournament has been a thrilling one overall imo.

I'm really excited right now for Marquette-Xavier to tip in a few. Go MU!

I meant the last couple sessions of games. Outside of the MSU vs UCLA game the rest were pretty wide margins and for all but 5 minutes the MSU and UCLA game was pretty bad. The early part of the day was amazing

Marquette with a solid first half. Xavier on the other hand played one of the sloppiest halves I have ever watched. Forcing shots, throwing the ball all over the place. Marquette's defense has a lot to do with that but Xavier looks over-matched. Will be interesting to see how the second half plays out

Great win by Marquette tonight. A few rough spots at times but overall they were impressive. I understand he has been playing out of position all season, but I won't be sad to see Buycks go after this year. Also, I have thoroughly enjoyed listening to the announcers try to carefully say "Hardcore Pawn" on TruTV these past 2 days.

Marquette with a great defensive effort today. Hopefully the defense continues on Sunday against 'Cuse.

After listening to Jay Bilas whine for two days about how VCU had no business being in the tournament, it's nice to see VCU shut him up even if it came at the expense of a Big East team.

I think Bo needs a run to the Final Four to solidify his resume as a top coach. He has the Elite 8 run and 2 Sweet 16 runs, but he needs a Final Four run in most peoples mind. I think he is a great coach but just like Aaron Rodgers needed a Super Bowl, Bo Ryan needs at least another Elite 8 but probably a Final Four.

Still Dancing!

(Most emotional I've been in years watching a Badger game. What a great team effort.)

It was amazing. I cant believe they won with Taylor going 2 for 16 and Pullen making everything in sight. Timmy J, Bruiser, and Gasser were huge in this game.

Butler will be a fun match-up

It's almost unfathomable how bad Taylor was tonight, but he did hit 2 big FTs and got the big block at the end to seal it. Love me some Bruser!!

The Butler/Pitt ending was.....interesting.

You don't have an Adam Wainwright. Easily the best gentlemen in all of sports. You don't have the amount of real good old American men like the Cardinals do. Holliday, Wainwright, Skip, Berkman those 4 guys are incredible people

I like UW's odds to get to the Final Four.

And what a disappointing performance by the Big East.

Badgers are in good shape but Butler is going to be one tough out.

The Big East has been disappointing. At most 3 teams in the Sweet 16 for a conference that had 11 teams at 9 seeded 6 or higher. Will be interesting to see how tomorrow plays out. Notre Dame is a team I would not be surprised to see get upset, but they are better than Florida State. Cuse and Marquette will be a very good game

Great win by Bucky. Like jjfanec said, the supporting cast stepped up big-time tonight. Leuer wasn't bad either http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif

Also, KSU players not named Pullen shot a combined 9-26. The Badgers were lucky to survive with Pullen so red-hot & Taylor so ice-cold. But what a huge block by Jordan to close out the game.

Against my better judgment I went to a bar with some friends to watch the game. I absolutely hate watching games at bars because people are talking, or I can't hear the announcers very clear or something is distracting so I can't fully pay attention to the game. Sure enough all those happened and I for the most part all I could tell is that the game was close and it looked like a hard fought win. I had no idea until I looked at the stats that Taylor had such a terrible game. I would never imagined them winning a tournament game this year with Taylor having a game like he did today. Great win!

I'm a Big Ten guy but I'm still withholding judgment on the Big East. With 11 teams in, they were bound to take some losses. 7-4 in the first round wasn't all that bad. Then they have two games with their teams against each other in the round of 32, so that automatically knocks out two more.

On the flip side, they have been on the wrong end of the 2 biggest upsets of the tourney so far.

There is still a chance that the Big East could be well-represented in the final four, but there was never really a phenomenal Big East team this year and it is really starting to show.

The Big East has a chance to redeem their start with a couple team making final four runs, but when you come into the tournament with 9 teams seeded 6 or better and 5 teams 4 or higher, getting at most 3 into the Sweet 16 is not good at all.

They have under-achieved by two wins (at least) according to seeds in the first two rounds. Without winning any they "shouldnt" in the first round they should have gone 9-2. Instead they go 7-4. Not terrible but not good. The next round they will at best be 3-4 when they "should have" put 5 in according to their seeds. That is under-achieving. Now a nice run by UConn, Notre Dame, and the Cuse/Marquette winner than they redeem themselves
