What is truTv and does this mean that local games will not be on CBS? Is truTV like Hulu or ESPN3 or something online? I just want to know if we can watch the games or if we now need some obscure television channel to watch the tourney all of the sudden. Seriously, who thought this was a good idea?

It used to be Court TV.

Rydogg,

The idea behind using all the channels was so that people would be able to see the game they wanted. I kind of like the format where they cut to the close game, but they are trying to show all the games this year, on their family of channels. This way you don't get skunked if your team is not the headliner. Will be interesting to see how it plays out, as I know I don't get 1 of the channels used with my package.

Michigan's best wins are sweeping Michigan State and Penn State, beating Illinois in the B-10 tourney, and a non-conference win over Clemson who arguably shouldn't be in the tourney. Marquette has beaten Notre Dame, UConn, Syracuse, and West Virginia twice (plus Bucknell in non-conference, as good a team or better than Clemson). If we want to play the "close loss to ranked team" game, Marquette can run with anybody on that one this year.

One thing that hurt Marquette, especially in RPI and SOS is that even though they played a couple of quality non-conference teams in Duke, Gonzaga, Wisconsin, and Vandy is not just that they lost all four of those games, their group of (free win home game) teams that they scheduled this year and in most years are so extremely bad. Teams like Centenary, Longwood, Prairie View A&M, etc are the total dregs of the largely check collecting teams that go play the major conference schools in their non-conference portion of the schedule. The kind of terrible teams ranked in the 300's or high 200's instead 150-250 range.

I know it might seem like it shouldn't make a big deal either way when your program is basically just paying a small D1 school to come in and help you get a 12,000 fan gate and give your players a glorified exhibition game that actually counts, but it does matter to your RPI/SOS if most of those 7-8 usually free win teams are absolutely brutal instead of just being bad.

I said that Michigan was better than Marquette "right now." Two months ago, in the midst of a six game losing streak, they were not. Since that six game losing streak they've gone 9-4. Those four losses were to #12 Wisconsin (on the bank shot as time expired) a two point loss to Illinois, who they then beat in the B1G tournament, and two losses to the #1 team in the nation. I'm not knocking Marquette as much as I'm saying Michigan has matured in to a very nice team...even if next year is when you'll see the results more.

Marquette got a very good draw in Xavier. They have a few wins against lower seeded tournament teams but nothing against big name teams. The lost to Cincy, Old Dominion and Florida in their big games this year. They beat Temple, Georgia and Butler for their bigger wins. Should be a good match-up. I know they beat Cuse earlier this year but I dont like that match-up as much for them.

Wisconsin got a tough draw in Belmont. They are deep team who has played big name teams close. They press a lot, but they do foul a lot doing it. They hit a high percentage of 3's which is Wisconsin Achilles heal lately on defense. I like the second round match-up with K-State or Utah State.

Either team could make the Sweet 16 and not surprise me. Either team could lose in the first round and not surprise me

Based on the guide data on DirecTV it looks like TruTV HD is only being used for the basketball games. The guide just shows upcoming: College Basketball for all the times until game time despite regular programming on TruTV SD in the meantime.

Edit: fixed of the HD's to SD

Looks like TWC, at least here in appleton, has trutv in hd. However, it had started out fine, but now the picture and sound are all screwed up and it's unwatchable.
Remember what Yoda said:

I'm loving the 4 games on 4 channels as well. One question though, does anyone else notice a vast difference in sound quality and level on the TruTV HD games? It's really bad for me with Charter, but at least it's in HD.
Everything I've ever known, I've learned from Brewerfan.net....Seriously though

I've noticed the sound difference too. Not sure I understand why it is like that but I can deal with it if it means being able to flip through different games. Some good games already with Morehead St. and Temple winning in the final seconds. Also, Temple gave me my first correct bracket pick which should tell you how my bracket is looking.

Well, the Badgers at least showing something offensively so far. The most concerning thing about the last few games is how complacent the Badgers have become defensively.... waaay too many guys cutting to the basket virtually uncontested against them.

I have not noticed cutters being a big problem tonight, but their post defense has been terrible. They are shooting really well though. After a little slower start they became really efficient on offense. Hope Leuer shows up this half

Hope Leuer shows up this half

And how.

Nice, easy win for the Badgers against an opponent that was largely predicted to win this game. Great 2nd half all around.

They looked really good after the first 5 minutes. I was expecting a much closer game

Belmont was a team that I had my eyes on as having the profile for a 12-5 upset, and I knew that the Badgers were going to be a popular pick to be upset when the pairings were announced.

Glad to see they took care of business once again. Now we need a win on Saturday.

The Badgers were favored and were probably picked by 80% of those who made out a bracket. Belmont was a trendy pick for an upset, though I'm shocked Princeton wasn't with their history of upsets.

A lot of the analysts picked the Badgers to lose.

Here are the picks the jsonline compiled. 5 out of the 7 of the people in that list picked the Badgers to lose. Seth Davis and Doug Gottlieb (at least first he did he changed this morning I heard) had the Badgers losing as well. The Badgers may have been favored by Vegas but many if not most analysts had them losing. ESPN's bracket Predictor gave the Badgers a 52% chance of winning.
