The anomaly of the 1992 draft.

Jopal78

In the 1992 amateur draft, the Brewers had only one of their selections from rounds 1-20 make the major leagues: Bobby Hughes.
Yet the following players were all drafted by other clubs in rounds 1-20 and ended up playing for Milwaukee at some point:I

First Rounders:
Jeffrey Hammonds
Ron Villone
Jim Pittsley
Rick Helling
Jason Kendall

Other Rounds;
Mike Matthews
Everett Stull
Brant Brown
Mike Buddie
Eric Owens
Matt Williams
Jeff Liefer
Tommy Phelps
Steve Falteisek
Frank Catalanotto
John Snyder
Craig Counsell
Juan Acevedo
Angel Echevarria

Frankly, I don't know if its cool or strange that I recognized Pittsley and Falteisek in the first place.

What was the new farm director's name that year, Al Goldis or something? He, Bando, and all the scouts who worked on the 92-94 drafts in particular should hang their heads in shame. I'm not going to look, but I know they were truly pathetic. It's goes without saying that the old regime- Dalton, Manno, Poitevant (etc.) were greatly missed during the first week of June.
