We broke our record cold maximum temperature in Miami today. The high was 67. A week ago it was still around 90. The record low tonight is 53 from 1907--and that is likely to be broken also by a few degrees. I almost put on a sweater.

As for you guys in Wisconsin, it's going to be a La Nina winter, which usually means above-normal snowfall and unusually large fluctuations between seasonally mild and cold temperatures.

I don't believe it's snowed at all yet, which is always a plus. Here in north central Wisconsin, having snow that "sticks" in October is probably about a 50-50 proposition. The chance of seeing snow that doesn't stick is probably very close to 100%.

That’s the only thing Chicago’s good for: to tell people where Wisconsin is.

There were freeze warnings in South Texas for this morning. It sure was cold! But then it got up to 72. So life was good.

Man, you have to be the happiest person about where you live that I've ever seen. This post cracked me up. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif

I wasn't happy to open up the door to let the dog out yesterday morning and feel how cold it was, but I was happy yesterday afternoon when it was sunny and warm. And after living in Wisconsin for most of my life and the Northwest for a while, I'll happily take Texas any day of the year.

You seem to enjoy doing this routine on an annual basis.

I'm calling [edited by mod] here. (Or at least a complete misunderstanding/abuse of the cliche you are using) Are you telling me that you would take the average August day in Texas over the average August day in Wisconsin?

I can understand thinking that Wisconsin winters suck, but NOBODY passes on 75 and gorgeous for 95 or 100 degrees.

Yep. I like hot weather. There's typically less humidity in San Antonio in August as opposed to places in Wisconsin. And overall, having a non-snowy winter, along with a more predictable spring, means I'll happily take the summers, springs, winters and falls in the big picture as opposed to cold, kinda cold, really cold, warm, and fall in Wisconsin.

I'm not looking big picture. I'm nit-picking at your statement darnit!!!

been in Texas (Austin) for about two months now and loving this weather! i'm guessing things here are basically the reverse of Wisconsin, that it's 75 and perfect here during the winter, but unbearable during the summer.

i think i like warm-weather cities better because at least when it's burning during the day, you can still go out at night and be comfortable. for Wisconsin winters, you're not getting that noontime portion of the day where it's not still unbearably cold.

The best part is that Austin is far enough south that if a really big "winter storm" came, you might get a bit of snow, but it will melt quickly and everything will shut down. But that's extremely rare. The lowest lows I've seen in 2 (going on 3) winters here is upper 20s. And that's just for a little bit. I can handle that.

I grew up in the wrong climate (Wisconsin). Now I have planted too many roots here to ever leave. I enjoy Milwaukee and Wisconsin, but I'm definitely a warm weather person. I'll take 90 and warmer over 30 and colder any day. I just keep trying to convince myself that there are only really 3 brutal months (Dec - Feb) and December is possibly bareable because of the Holidays.

I refuse to believe anyone who says they prefer colder weather to warmer weather. Yesterday I went out for lunch downtown (Milwaukee). It wasn't brutally cold, but it was cold (low 40s and windy - felt closer to low 30s). I notice that the lunch hour streets are dead when the weather starts getting colder. People bring lunches in to work and don't venture out. When the temperatures are 70, 80, or even 90 it's a much more lively scene. A lot more people walking around, people eating outdoors, hot dog vendors, boats on the water, etc. People are not "speed walking" from building to building to get out of the cold. Winter just paints a picture of darkness and coldness, especially after the Holidays. I don't understand how anyone can prefer that over the bright, warm days of summer.

It's a little early for this, but there are some hints at a Thanksgiving storm for WI in the mid-range models. Looks like it will be cold enough for a swath of snow--location depends on the storm track.

64 degrees and raining at the airport. This sucks. I want snow!
So, the hail that is falling in some of the thunderstorms isn't doing it for you?

Just looking at the radar, I wouldn't care to be in Walworth or Racine counties at the moment, maybe not even southern Milwaukee County.

Remember: the Brewers never panic like you do.
