Important! Please vote on these Yuku issues (including the "blank last page" bug)


As many of you already know, Yuku is asking us to vote on issues in

order for them to be addressed by developers. Issues that have a lot of

votes will be given priority.

 

Voting is easy. Simply

follow the links below, and hit the voting icon next to the reply button

in each topic's lead post.

This has been the number one complaint from our

membership for two years. We haven't been successful in

getting Yuku's attention regarding this issue in the past. Hopefully,

with the voting system, things will be

different. With the assistance of our members, we've been able to consistently reproduce this issue. Hopefully, that will help.

? Mobile App [feature

request]

The number one feature request among our members

is better handheld support. The posts in the thread are

technical in nature, but the concept is not.

? Alt text and tooltips on

posticon img elements [feature

request]

The current omission of "alt" is incredibly

significant for blind users. For the non-blind, a request to add unique

tooltips to board posticons is included. The tooltips would address AKA

Pete's request for a posticon

legend. I've written this up on behalf of the owner of another

board. In exchange for our votes for this feature, I've asked her board

to help us out on the "blank last page" bug.

We don't have to worry about votes on

one request "canceling out" votes on another. So far, things haven't

worked that way. The only thing that's a problem is multiple votes per

IP: please don't vote with more than one profile.

main thing is to gather a lot of votes. Your participation is

I've hidden the two previous replies in this topic. They had links and instructions for watching the voting. support.yuku.com has been undergoing a lot of reorganization, and almost everything I linked to in the two hidden posts ended up pointing to the wrong destination. The links in the lead are still good, however, and if you haven't voted, taking a minute to do so would be appreciated. The buttons for voting have moved. Rather than being next to reply buttons, they're now at the top of the thread. Currently, for all issues, the buttons say "Cool Idea." (I think the buttons are subject to change, so I'm not going to take any more screen captures right now.)

 

As of now, Mobile Apps has the second highest vote total among feature requests (55 votes). The 'blank last page' bug has the highest vote total among bugs (57 votes). The less sexy--but important--alt text request has 37 votes, third among features that aren't completed.

 

You can follow voting by checking the forums containing the topics, Bugs, and Features. Click on the word Votes at the top of the Votes column to sort topics by votes. There's also a "Most Voted" list in the right sidebar on support.yuku.com's main page. This is a feed and may be a bit behind, but it offers a combined list of topics from all forums.

Unfortunately, there isn't anything I can report regarding this bug. For a while, Yuku was addressing issues based on votes at support.yuku.com. A few features and bug fixes were actually implemented based on that system, but as TooLiveBrew says, Yuku has taken down its support board.

 

We're now supposed to file tickets at help.yuku.com. (There's a link to it at the bottom of every page.) It's all individual one-on-one help. A ticket system was always in place, and it's good for certain kinds of issues, especially when private information needs to be exchanged.

 

However, seeking help via ticket only makes it harder to keep abreast of Yuku issues, and it's harder for Brewerfan staff to seek help on behalf of members. Additionally, the lack of a board makes it very easy for staff to brush us off and tell is that a problem isn't really a problem. An example of this was when chat was broken for several weeks last winter. Staff kept telling us, "Chat's not broken; it's just different."

 

To update on Yuku, the company has been sold to Inform Technologies. Before the sale, five of the six customer support staff members were let go. After the sale, support.yuku.com was taken down. My theory is that without an official support board, it's easier for Yuku personnel to tell ownership that the customer base is happy.

 

Back to the bug, maybe we should all be filing help tickets. Thoughts?
