2010 Championship Series Thread

hawing

Yankee fan on another board.

Ok, I am conviced, too many things are going their way.. they are getting breaks they don't deserve.... Honestly, things can't get worse for the yankees... it just can't... I have seen this before and when things turn, they turn hard.... I honestly see a game 7.. no way can texas remain this damn lucky, and yes, I am calling this luck.....I can't believe any other reason for this..

Maybe I'm just not paying close enough attention, but what exactly has Texas been lucky on? The Rangers got a break on the pitch that hit Swisher in the 8th with the bases loaded and the Yankees got a break on the "homer" by Cano in the 2nd inning. I don't remember any lucky breaks in the first three games.

With all due respect to principessa...finish the job, Rangers.

Yea I get it's the Yankees, but it doesn't make it any easier to handle when you know your team isn't performing their best. But this isn't the place to complain.

BTW, trwi7, please don't lump all us Yankees fans into that post. I post on a message board that has at least a thousand active members and only a hundred are that cuckoo crazy, and I guess even more after being down 3 to 1. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif

And yes, that Yankees fan interfering was a tool. I even said to my boyfriend that he was acting as the stereotypical Yankees fan. It reminded me of this.

What about the luck the Yankees had in Game 1?
The luck the Yankees had in game 1 was bad bullpen pitching by the Rangers. That's probably been the weakest part for the Rangers all series. Hitting, scoring runs, solid starting pitching.....no problems there. I just wonder if tonight is going to be it. That 9th inning when the Rangers topped it off, it just seemed like all the air went out of the stadium and all the players.

I'll admit, for me it's partly that it's the Yankees that are down 3-1 (for now), but I usually find it interesting to see a new team in the postseason mix. Unlike most of FOX's perceived audience, I would be more likely to watch a 2010 World Series with the Rangers in it than the Yankees.

If NYY does come back, I'll be happy for you, Principessa21. Also, if they do, it'll further support the "way too uneven playing field" belief many of us have about MLB. This would be the darker side of Texas advancing (if they do): Bud and whoever would be able to say, "See? No Yankees. And you thought the playing field was uneven." (and he'll stick to that even after NYY signs Cliff Lee)

Same. I would definitely tune into a Rangers/Giants World Series. I would probably tune in occasionally to a World Series with one of those teams and I would be disinterested in a Phillies/Yankees World Series.

The Rangers have had seemingly a ton of seeing-eye singles. They've been extremely lucky with batted balls in play imho. Lots of balls not hit very hard that found the holes.

I didn't get to see the Cano homer last night but was listening on the radio while driving home. Joe Morgan was adamant that the ball was a HR and the fan didn't reach over, Cruz's glove wasn't touched and there was no need to replay it. Jon Miller disagreed and thought the umps should have at least looked at the replay. As they watched the replay in the booth Miller said it sure looked questionable enought to review as he thought the fan hit the glove but Morgan just dug in and refused to consider it was worth anyones time. It was quite commical how Morgan being his typical self couldn't see how anyone could think it was worth looking at.

I was getting out of the car as Berkman hit his HR which Miller immediately said was foul. Morgan didn't say much on that one. I was in the house and missed their reaction to the reversal but all in all Morgan just came off as a tool.

I didn't really expect the Rangers to win all three games in Yankee Stadium, but it would've been nice to get the Yankees out early. The longer they're alive, the more nervous I get. There's just too much talent there.

Also, watching AL baseball is like watching paint dry. There's no reason for a baseball game to last close to 4 hours (without the bottom of the 9th being played!!).

Anyone else been watching these playoff games and just get the feeling that the Brewers are miles away from competing at this level? I mean, Yo would probably be Philly's 4th starter and at best the Giants 2nd, but most likely 3rd.

I could see us being like the Reds, and sneaking in there on a down year from the Cards, but once we get there we just get smoked because of the lack of front end SP.

I didn't get that specific feeling, but yeah, it often seems to come down to starting with an ace on the mound.

That "God Bless America" singer in tonight's NLCS game seems to have ended the debate on whether to remove one's hat for the song.

Edit: OK, I've learned something tonight. The singer is a member of the cast of Beach Blanket Babylon, a long-running musical revue in SF, where wearing ginormous hats is normal.
