Are the coaches for Minnesota that clueless or are the players just that bad at executing? It was pretty much the same thing everytime for the Badgers. Go along the wing and have a trailer filling the center of the ice for an easy pass and shot. Realistically the score should've been about 10-0 the way the Gophers were playing defense. They made absolutely no adjustments on what should've been something very easy to adjust.

Game two over. Badgers come back to tie in a good game 3-3. A nice weekend for Bucky, getting 3 of 4 points on the weekend.

Tonights game was a fun one....both teams had some great goals and both teams took their turn with all of the momentum. Great goal by Jordy Murray to tie it up with just over 2 mins to go.....not sure how he did it, but it was clutch!

Go Bucky

Gudmanson is our #1, but Bennett is not bad!

Bennett is 3-0-1.

Gudmanson is 3-2-1

Both will be ranked in the top ten nationally after this weekend - going in, according to USCHO.com, Bennet was #3 in the nation in goal per game, Gudmanson was #24.

I think Goalie will not be a problem spot for this team! In fact, to have two senior goalies is something that nobody else has......some teams, if their starter gets hurt it destroys their season. Ours.....well we have #1 and #1A.

I still worry that we take way too many penalties. And no matter who is in net, we give up a ton of 2 on 1's and 3 on 2's. Friday night they had a bunch that we luckily stopped, Saturday two of their goals came as a result of odd man rushes.

This team could be pretty good if they clean that up. The WCHA is, as always, wide open. They sure can score a ton......

Just watching them, Bennett is clearly not as good as Gudmandson, so why play him after Gudmandson gets a shutout? Bennett has inflated stats against crappy competition. Holy Cross, Alabama-Huntsville and Michigan Tech before Minnesota. Gudmandson has gone against the #3 team in the country and the #13 team twice in addition to Minnesota, Michigan Tech and Alabama-Huntsville.

Alabama-Huntsville

I did *not* know hockey was played in Alabama.

I think Blake Geoffrion has two brothers playing for them. They are also hosting the 2012 Frozen Four in Tampa because they are the closest school that plays hockey.

I feel bad for Alabama Huntsville. No conference.....they are like the vegabonds of the NCAA. The guys sitting with me were laughing at their uni's, because the letters and numbers looked like they were iron-on.

Its gotta be hard to get recruits and fans to follow a small time hockey program ..... in Alabama.

BTW - Wisconsin is now ranked #13 in the Nation! They continue to move up.....big showdown against North Dakota this weekend.

Buckylovesbeer, my roommates and I were laughing about that too. Those jerseys looked like practice unis. But we also thought that they might have a recruiting edge in the South. If you think about it, there is literally no other Southern hockey program, so if you're a high school hockey player from Texas, or Florida, or Louisiana, you might end up at AL-H because it's closer to home. That said, I'd still rather struggle to recruit in the North than have an edge in the South and get nothing from the North, because lets face it, hockey is better in the North.

Nobody plays hockey in the South, well some do like Blake Geoffrion, but top prospects in the South are so few and far between that there is really no advantage in the South. And even when I mentioned Geoffrion, he went to school in Michigan and then Indiana. He knew he wasn't going to be recognized in Tennessee, so he had to go where there was good competition. If he stays in Tennessee and plays against the few teams there where he is easily the best player they're going to wonder is he really a good player that would excel in Michigan, Minnesota or Wisconsin or is he just an average player beating up on the crappy competition?

That was one of the worst games I have seen them play. Two 5-minute power plays, plus 3 or 4 other power plays, and they hardly got any shots off at all. It seemed they went for the pass every opportunity they had, instead of shooting it. I left that game tonight so angry at the way the team played.

A couple of thoughts....

NoDak is really good. They are fast, big, and dont get rattled. We can play with them, but we have to play our "A" game for 60 mins. Friday we didnt and the difference was 1-0.

When Jordy Murray went out, thats when we were in trouble. I an not sure what everyone else saw, but I have friends who sit behind the Badger bench and apparently he was cut very badly. And he never returned to the ice for the 3rd period......When he left the game, he was replaced on the PP by Patrick Johnson. Which is a choice that I dont understand. We have a ton of scorers and tallent and Eaves put PJ on the #1 PP.......I was not a fan. I think it was PJ who had the turnover that led to a 2-1 and the game winning goal.

Bucky cannot get into a 4 on 4 with NoDak - They were way quicker than us and thats when the game was decided.......

Their fans were not very nice. My seats are behind the opponents bench, next to the visiting players parents. Usually the fans around us have a lot of good natured ribbing and fun with the opponents fans. For example, the Husky-Husky fan from Michigan Tech is a favorite of everyone. The North Dakota fans, on the other hand, were really not very cool. I would describe them as angry......pretty funny. They take their hockey very seriously.....but it is North Dakota. What else do they have?

I am wondering if their chant of "And the home of the Souix" at the end of the national anthem is offensive to anyone on here? It doesent really bother me, whatever, but the people around me complain every year. Any thoughts anyone?

North Dakota comes for men's basketball Tuesday and we are scheduled to sit near their bench and traveling fan section - so I'll get a chance to hear it then, I guess. It seems about as classy as the Braves' tomahawk chop, which for me is "not very."

The NoDak goal came on a play that should not have happened in the first place. A NoDak player took control of the puck in the corner of their own zone, but the rush had not begun yet. Jake Gardiner backed off the play instead of challenging the puck in the corner. The one aspect of the game where I thought the Badgers played well was fighting for the puck on the boards, yet Gardiner didn't even try to do so. Johnson had a stupid play (I sound like a broken record saying that....it wasn't a turnover, but he was out of position), and a pass later, the dude puts it on net. If Gardiner tries to challenge the puck, the pass out of the zone probably never happens like it did.

The only true bright spot was Gudy's play in goal. He had a fantastic game. The goal he gave up was no cheap shot.

I'm still mad about that game...

Jordy Murray out for tonights game.....

Down 1-0 thru two periods. NoDak dominating. They are a very impressive team, no doubt.

I think they have taught the book on Goody. Shoot high into traffic ( Goody butterflys down all the time, and this is how they scored their Saturday goal ) and shoot far side high on a breakaway. (This is how they scored Friday and came very close twice already Saturday)

That being said, Goody is single handedly keeping Bucky in the game tonight. Lets Go Red

One other thought.....the line of Dolan, Johnson, Little is terrible. Scrappy at best, horrid offense this weekend. And they keep getting stuck on the ice against NoDak's top line. Ugh

Not to bad for a young inexperienced team. If they can keep this group together next year they could be something special. I am not giving up on this year yet but young players tend to fade a bit as teh season wears on and we have a lot of young players.

Fan is short for fanatic.

I blame Wang.

Saturday's game showed a lot of the team's inexperience. I just read a couple of recaps and they used "growing pains" to excuse a lot of the problems, but I'm not sure the team should be given that much of an easy out.

There were three separate incidents where players made just plain dumb plays: checking the goalkeeper, throwing a check well after the whistle and intentionally knocking the NoDak goal off the line.
