That's not terrible. You writing that it's terrible is terrible.

 

UZR is so subject to small samples that Braun and Hart both improved by the end of the season. Braun ended at -8.3 and -5.9. I would say that this season showed that they were merely bad to below average.

If you read my whole post instead of quoting and responding to 11 words that didn't agree with your dogma, you would notice that I was responding to a defensive stats based argument made by another poster by pointing out my observations, those of scouts, and their current UZR ratings for the season. I too don't put a lot of stock in URZ, but felt throwing out their current stats was relevant when the original poster had shown even more irrelevant defensive statistics.

 

Once again, it seems we are mostly in agreement on something, yet you are trying to start a debate based off of a relatively minor point I made 2 weeks ago. Sheesh.

What about 2 weeks ago is important? The fact that defensive stats can change in such little time means that quoting them and putting enough meaning in them that you can describe it as terrible doesn't gel with the fact that you don't put a lot of stock in UZR. Or you choose to throw around adjectives like terrible to the point where they have no meaning.

Because I don't feel like indulging you in an argument I had with a separate poster 2 weeks ago or debating my posting style with you in. Especially when we are pretty much in agreement over the actual baseball issue here. You are trying to jump into a discussion out of context that happened 2 weeks ago and start it up fresh with 2 different posters after it already ran its course. Slow day at work?

 

Do you have anything about Brandon Webb or Chris Young you want to discuss? Otherwise I am sure you can find something else from the last 2 weeks on this board to cherry pick and disagree with.

This article doesn't mention Young or Webb specifically, but makes it sound like Melvin is really going to try and stay away from free agent starters this off-season.
