The Marlins' announcers are reciting the Brewers' media guide. I now know where everyone in the lineup went to high school and college. They are also obsessed with video clips of the racing sausages riding Harleys before the game.

Also, Yo looks great tonight.

I think this lineup is further proof of a strong dislike of Gamel. I would have went with

Weeks

Gamel

Hart

Fielder

McGehee

Cain

Lucroy

Escobar

Pitcher

and you can mix up the last 4 any way you like.

Fan is short for fanatic.

I blame Wang.

I was at the game tonight. Great outing by Yo, wish he could have finished off the 7th but Macha made the right move to pull him. I was excited to see Gamel play, made a nice catch in LF early in the game. He was pulled after getting hit, was he hurt? The back-to-back jacks by Weeks and Fielder was sweet! Also seeing Corey get to #30 for the first time in his career was cool.

AS for the wave, I am not a big fan, but I do love and had to participate in the slow and super fast waves. Good times at my last Brewers game of 2010.

I've thought a lot of people on here have been overreacting to Macha's treatment of Gamel, but if the above is true, Macha truly is a @$+@#$%.

If it were up to me, he'd have been fired before the end of the game. It's clear that Macha hates Gamel, but you'd still think he'd have a little tact in hiding his disdain. Really, you're gonna remove one of your top prospects (whose getting innings at a new position in a non meaningful game for EITHER team) for a defensive replacement? How did Melvin decide this is the guy he wants to lead the team?

I'm pleased to report that the hawing party has clinched at least a .500 record in games attended at Miller Park in 2010! The worst we can do now is 15-15. We still need a win on Saturday and/or Sunday to clinch a better than .500 record, both at MP and including road games.

Tonight was a lot of fun, despite lacking the degree of excitement of, say, 9/23/2008. Except for Florida's mini-rebound in the 7th (when Yo appeared to me to be clearly running out of gas a batter or two sooner than he was finally pulled), it was just so nice to have a largely worry-free game, not to mention multiple home runs, RBI from my boys Corey and Jonathan, and Luis Cruz's first MLB hit. The weather was summerlike with a robust breeze. The crowd who showed up was probably in the mid-20Ks (not all 31000) and was appreciative of the Brewers' efforts. I also had what is probably my last cactus league taco salad of 2010 and it was a good one. I even tolerated the Camp Randall-style wave, which (if it had to happen at a baseball game at all) was relatively well-timed.

What's not to like here? This game will give me some happy memories through the off-season. Thanks, Brewers.

P.S. OWBC, since you're in FLA for a while, spring for the Gameday audio at least. Then you can be relieved of the Marlins announcers. I thought I was the only one nerdy enough to read that much detail from the media guides...but I don't read it out loud.

Remember: the Brewers never panic like you do.

Believe it or not, Gamel was removed for defensive purposes.

According to Cory Provus on the radio broadcast, he was removed due to the injury to his foot after being HBP.

If he is hurt and like Braun going to miss a few games, he really has the worst luck. Braun get's hit and the only silver lining to him missing games is Gamel will get a chance to play some LF. Now Gamel gets hit and he could be day to day giving more starts to (gasp) Gomez. Uggghhh.

Well then, screw Macha for not letting him work through the pain and prove himself!!!

Mat Gamel is the most important player on this team! He is going to lead us to the promised land. He should be playing every inning, every single game, injured or not! It doesn't matter if any other players get playing time, even if they are young and/or playing well! The whole team needs to be asking themselves, "What can we be doing to help Mat Gamel?" When Mat Gamel isn't around, they should all be asking each other, "Hey, where is Mat Gamel?"

Okay, now you're just needling people who have a different opinion than you, which is not cool. No one has ever said that Macha should play Mat if he's nicked up. According to this thread, it was first reported Gamel was taken out for defensive purposes. Which if true, would have been absolutely insane.

I don't know if it was actually "reported" that he was taken out for defensive purposes. Maybe it was speculated on the broadcasts, but I didn't hear about that. I just know that in this thread it seems like people jumped to that conclusion, and then used it as an excuse to bash Macha yet again for his supposed vendetta against Gamel. I mean, you had one poster in this thread calling for Macha to be fired before the end of the game.

Seriously, some people on this board are taking this Mat Gamel obsession too far, in my opinion.
