It's really not that big of a deal, but I find it incredibly annoying that Macha won't give Luis Cruz a start at SS tonight because he wants to put his "best foot forward" against teams in the playoff race (according to TH). Last time I checked, Cincinnati's lead was 8 games with about two weeks left. Macha truly is an amazing guy.

Yeah, here is the quote from Haudricourt's blog about Macha not starting Luis Cruz:

I asked Macha last night why he isn't giving Luis Cruz a start at short since he came up from Class AAA Nashville and he repeated his mantra of putting his "best foot foward" against teams in the pennant race. Well, Cincy has the thing all but clinched and Cruz has big-league experience with the Pirates. He had a big year with Nashville and I don't think it would compromise the team's integity to play him but what do I know?

I'll be headed to the park shortly. Hopefully we can salvage one game this series and clinch a winning season with me in attendance lol. The difference between Cruz and Counsell for one game is likely negligible, but if Macha prefers to start the 'name' guy I'm not surprised.

I was wondering if anyone else wondered what the point was of Counsell in the 6 spot. Fortunately, the Brewers are kind of making up for the first-inning lost opportunity now.

Try walking Prince now, Johnny. (Edit: OK, then!)

Ok it's 10-1 and the Brewers are tearing the cover off the baseball. How long til a Brewers batter gets plunked? And if it happens will any of the Brewer pitchers respond?

Well, you got your answer to the first question.

The usual pattern seems to be when the Brewer pitchers attempt to retaliate, they miss.

Huh, and here I thought Laynce Nyx was on the dysaybled lyst. Shows what I know.

Edit: I wouldn't have minded spreading some of tonight's runs throughout the series, but blowouts are nice when they happen. Keep it going vs. Florida!

Remember: the Brewers never panic like you do.

I see no reason to call up Luis Cruz let alone actually put him on the field. He was a bad hitter in AAA this year. He has been a bad hitter in the minors through his whole career. He is not a good player. He is an organizational place holder until somebody with talent comes along. Just for reference he hit .309/.414/.723 this year in AAA. That .309 is OBP not BA. He is a career .295/.404/.699 hitter in AAA over 1200+ PA. Again that is .295 OBP not BA. His major league numbers are a very small sample but they make Carlos Gomez look like Babe Ruth.

Fan is short for fanatic.

I blame Wang.

That was seriously a called strike? Umps must want to get back to the hotel.

I just breezed thru the game on DVR, so I'm assuming you're talking about Weeks' final at bat with the bases loaded. Disgraceful. Took amazing restraint from Rickie to not lay out the ump there.

It was actually Bush.
