Rogers, Kintzler and Cruz promoted to Milwaukee; Maine

kintzlerfan
From the Tom H. JS blog:

Rogers is in Milwaukee going through the motion analysis tests that have become a requisite for all pitchers in the organization, allowing the medical staff to see if their delivery raises any red flags.

FWIW, RHP Amaury Rivas, also on the 40-man, is in Milwaukee for the same testing. No word on whether he'll be activated as well, although it would be nice.

It seems odd that a flamethrowing former #1 pick with serious injury history wouldn't have had these "motion anaysis tests" done earlier than now.

“He’ll be a starting pitcher for them,” said Stephanie. “We’ll be there when he does pitch ... I’m not going to miss that.”

So if Mark will be starting, and he'll be activated on Friday, does it mean there's a good chance he'll be starting on Friday?

Why not? A couple of starts for Rogers and Rivas can't be much worse than BuNarvPaCap, can it?

Something tells me that his mother's word that he'll be a starting pitcher is not equal to the Brewers' word.

I'd love to see him get some starts, but I highly doubt that he will. Still excited to see him pitch, though.

I would wonder if concerning his innings currently that they might wet his feet in relief innings and wait till next season to start him fresh. Guess we'll need to wait for the "man behind the curtain" to make his decision.

Will Rogers get a few starts

No he'll throw about five scoreless innings in relief and then be switched to the bullpen full time because he has "closer's stuff".

Seriously though. Congratulations to Mark. He has really earned it, and hopefully will soon be a mainstay in the Brewer's rotation.

Mark Rogers in The Show!

Brewers call up Mt. Ararat righty to the big leagues

By George Almasi, Times Record (Maine) Staff

“It certainly is a nice thing. The bottom line is that he’s finally healthy and in his last start threw 101,” added Coffey.

Does his agent mean he threw 101 pitches or 101 MPH?

Not only did she in no minced words say that he'll be a starter, but she said that they'll be there when he pitches, which seems to imply that they have already been told when he will have his first start. From my limited experience, players' parents are kept in the know of what's going on.

This is pretty exciting news, and I would guess that Bush will be the first man out when it comes to Rogers and possibly Rivas getting some starts. Bush is undoubtedly gone after this season, so he'd be the easy choice to lose his starting role. Capuano will be a FA as well, but he's been pitching well and will probably be pretty easy for the Brewers to sign in the offseason if they feel he can be a starter, so they'll probably give him and Narveson more reps to fight for next year's #5 spot.

I could be incorrect, but when I read about the analysis, I thought it was a checkup. I was pretty sure they all did that in spring training. But I can't specifically say that Rogers did...

especially if you're a parent of ben hendrickson.

But he was just a tool. I wouldn't judge all parents by his actions. That's like calling all baseball players crazy after watching a Milton Bradley meltdown.

From reading the article, it's not clear that his mother thinks he will be starting Friday, just that she will be there when he does start. Could be reading it wrong, but to me it seems the only thing she says is that he will be starting for them and when he does, she will be there.

I think if she knew he would be starting on Friday, she would say that. Not he'll be a starting pitcher and she will be there when he does, but rather would have said, he is going to start on Friday and we'll be there.

Maybe Rogers will get the start after Bush gets outrighted to AAA.

I s'pose that should be in blue, as someone will think I'm serious. I assume the Rogers family is just not very MLB knowledgeable, being from Maine and all. Remember, sometimes guys come up from the minors and have no idea DH games last 9 innings and a coat and tie are required...think how ignorant the families are. I read a story once that said a rookie went to Fenway for the first time and compared the Green Monster to a minor league park which had a tall LF wall...modeled after the Monster, of course. He thought BOS had done it because of the park in the minors.

In case it hasn't been posted, no call up for Rivas per the JS:

One of the Brewers' pitching prospects, right-hander Amaury Rivas, is in Milwaukee to undergo his motion analysis, which will detect any red flags that might signal potential injury because of flawed mechanics. However, the Brewers won't make Rivas a September call-up, as they did with Mark Rogers who is also in town for the analysis. General manager Doug Melvin said Rivas had pitched enough this season - 141 2/3 innings with Class AA Huntsville, with a 3.37 earned run average - and there was no need to push him further. Rivas was the organization's 2009 minor league pitcher of the year.

Yeah, I mean, they don't even have running water, TVs, or the internet in Maine. The family probably wouldn't know anything about baseball since their son wasn't a top draft pick & prospect his whole young adult life.
