Melvin had some comments (this past offseason, iirc) praising McGehee's work ethic so strongly that you couldn't help but read btw. the lines & see it as a comment about Gamel's relative lack thereof.

 

Melvin said that not too long ago when he was in the booth for an inning (don't know if he may have said the same thing during the off-season) and he also went on to say something about how in that way he (McGehee) is not like some others who think they are entitled to spot in MLB (or something to that effect).
