It's a Bring-the-Nephew Night for hawing, so come on, Brewers - remind me why they don't play games on paper, because the matchup "on paper" doesn't look all that.

Also, those of you attending tonight's game may as well watch the videoboard for said nephew along with bensheeps' son (aka the videoboard magnet). Section 220 FTW.

Remember: the Brewers never panic like you do.

Wow, interesting that Gomez gets bumped to RF when he must be better in CF than just about anyone else on the planet. Glad to see Cain has "established" himself as the CF starter.
Yeah, well, Macha played Edmonds in CF and Gomez in RF when there was no doubt in anyone's mind who the better CF was.

I like how they showed Gomez highlights (there's only a handful) and one of them is him hitting a homerun at Minnesota. He hit the ball, then started walking to first base. I guess the phrase "Act like you've done it before" doesn't quite work here, but that was downright awful. Weren't the Brewers getting spanked in that game, and his homerun didn't really make a difference in the outcome of the game? Needless showboating.

*Edit - Theriot and Lilly? Great.

Yeah, the Gomez HR cut the deficit to 12. He spent the entire series hacking for that homer to try to show the Twins what they gave up on. At the time I didn't mind it because that entire series was brutal and I was just happy to see a Brewer show that he cared.

Jesus, is McGehee a Molina? That is an inside the park homerun for 95% of big league players.

I think Johnny Estrada would beat Casey in a race.

What freaking team has Macha been watching? Why put Cappy in when he should be starting in Parra's place in a couple of games? Heck, he could start for Parra, Bush, Narvy...seriously Macha?

I'm sure they're starting Parra to see how he does. Ditto for Narveson. Isn't Cappy a FA after the season? I sure hope they have a gentleman's agreement or something because otherwise doing well as a starter just means he's getting more money wherever he ends up pitching.

Seriously, the whole thing with Macha being responsible for bad crops, cranky girlfriends and auto breakdowns is over the top.

The whole thing about Macha not being responsible for making terrible decisions in the dugout is over the top. He has no clue how to manage a MLB pitching staff. None. Was he given great pitchers to work with? Absolutely not. Has he made good decisions on how to use what he has? Again, absolutely not.

Edit: There is enough data on Parra from the last couple of years to know that he is not capable of being a reliable "quality start" pitcher in the majors. Really, do you need to see more Pete?

I've actually thought Macha's bullpen management has been one of his strong suits this year. He consistently uses Axford in multi-inning, high-leverage situations. He's done a great job of trusting Zach Braddock, even after a bit of a rough start. He's used Loe to get out of some really tough jams created by the starting pitcher (and unfortunately, that's happened so much recently that he's started to wear down). His handling of Hoffman after he finally removed him from the closer's role has been very good, too.

There are a lot of things to be angry with Macha about, but I don't think bullpen management is one.
