Father/Daughter weekend in MKE...

cooprules
I'm planning a father/daughter weekend and looking for things to do. She's 6. Thinking about maybe a Brewer game, Discovery World (people like it?), visit to Braun's restaurant. Been to the children's museum already. Thinking about maybe a salon where she can get her hair done (she won't let me touch it). Any suggestions? Thanks all...

Braun's restaurant is fine dining rather than a casual sports atmosphere. She'd probably prefer eating somewhere else.

That’s the only thing Chicago’s good for: to tell people where Wisconsin is.

Just went to Ryan Braun's Waterfront website. I didn't realize it was that 'high class'...We've also been to Miller park many times and she knows it's kinda my thing more than hers. Think we'll do discovery world for sure. Been to the zoo many times too but that's always a hit...

Do you live in Milwaukee? Or will you be staying in a hotel? Take her to Kopps and let her get whatever she wants, even if there's no chance she can finish a 4 scoop sundae. Get a hotel with a big pool, and let her swim for an afternoon. Discovery World is a blast, and the Zoo never gets old to a 6 year old. I haven't lived near Milwaukee for awhile, so I don't recall all of the places. A salon is a great idea! Let her get her hair done, toes and fingers painted, and then take her somewhere special for dinner. The nice thing about that age, is that special to her, does not necessarily equate expensive or fancy. Get her a makeover, maybe let her get a new outfit, then take her to dinner and a movie perhaps. Does Milwaukee have one of those "classic" theatres? That might be cool.

From my experience, my daughter wasn't that big on sight seeing at that age. I tried taking her on trips that I thought sounded fun, and she was bored. My best luck came from doing normal things slightly different. When we went out as a family, we didn't order dessert. On Daddy/Daughter trips, she got dessert. Little stuff like that seemed to make the difference at that age.

We took the kids on a long weekend trip to Kenosha last year. Our daughter was 4 at the time, and our son was 2. Besides plenty of time at the hotel pool, the weekend included a tour of the Jelly Belly factory and a stop at the dinosaur museum in Kenosha. They also liked the trolley ride and the farmers market. There was also a stop at the lake and playground time, before we visited the Milwaukee zoo on our drive back to Iowa. The dinosaur museum is small, but it has plenty of kid centered activities available.

We'll be staying at a hotel, probably just for a night. Thinking about the Milwaukee Public museum, too. Definitely want to do the salon thing and then somewhere to eat. Want to do something that she wouldn't really do at home...

Thanks for all the suggestions so far.
