Jody Gerut released

brewmann04

As per Adam McCalvy Tweet no great loss IMO like to see them getting rid of the dead wood

#Brewers reinstated OF Jody Gerut from the disabled list and released him. No place for him with Lo Cain playing so well.

Ohhh, now the Brewers have no Diegos, "real" or incorrectly guessed. Well, thanks for playing, Jody. We'll always have the cycle.
We can call Chris Dickerson Diego. *shrug*

You could definitely see this move coming for a while. No real place for Jody, no real need for him.

Its still a mystery how Gerut lost his bat after the 2008 season.

Ken Macha stole it from him. I'm not saying that he was a great player, but he was definitely a serviceable outfielder. Anyone would have a hard time putting up stats getting 5 at bats a week, like Gerut did most of last summer. Once all the injuries forced his hand, Macha played Gerut toward the end of last year, and he put up some pretty decent numbers.

That doesn't explain how he hit like crap in SD in 2009 that lead to his trade.
