Gomez to DL; Cain back up

But gimpy Diego has more veteran grit in his injured Achilles tendon than Hart + Inglett combined have in their whole bodies.

I'm glad they've decided to DL Gogo, though I wonder why they felt the need to wait until midday Friday.

There was a game, sometime in April or May, where they had the "Time warner triple play", the final clue, of the three was "His middle name is Diego" the guy proceeded to guess Jim Edmonds.

Cain was out of the lineup last night in Nashville, so the decision was likely made yesterday and just announced today.

Sounds like they waited for Cain to show up before making the move official. No sense giving him a day of ML time/pay if the flights are delayed.

I understand wanting to make sure Cain was available for tonight. Given the nature of Gogo's injury (and with the Corey Koskie experience presumably still on the Brewers' minds), I might have made the DL call sooner...like Tuesday or Wednesday. But that may be one of many reasons why it's good I'm not a baseball manager.

Didn't they place Go-Go on the DL retroactive to Tuesday? I thought they did...

Anywho, glad to see that Cain is going to get his first start tonight. From the few at-bats he got his last time up, I think he's shown the ability to be a nice hitter. Now let's see how he does in a full game, playing in the field. I'm excited! :D

Why the Diego nickname for Edmonds?
If I remember correctly, they had a trivia event on the scoreboard at Miller Park between innings. The subject was which Brewer has the middle name Diego. The choices were Gerut, Edmonds, and someone who I can't remember (but who obviously wouldn't have the middle name Diego). The person who played the trivia event guessed Edmonds' middle name was Diego. We all groaned/laughed, and that is now how Diego is Diego.

I'm glad to see Cain back, although this isn't the ideal circumstances for the GoGo-Cain move many were hoping for.
