Do we want to see Mark Cuban involved in MLB? (Merged: Greenburg & Ryan win auction for Rangers)

Wow, I'm definitely in the minority here. Heck, I appear to be a singularity!.

Now, a couple things. I'm not in favor of a continuation of the "good ol' boys club", and I do love to see change implemented when it makes the game better.

In those aspects, yeah, Cuban would be a refreshing change for the game.

I just would rather the focus be on the players, and Cuban definitely isn't that type of owner.

I sure as heck would not want to see him the owner of the Brewers, I don't care if he would increase the payroll by whatever he could afford.

Why? What has he ever done that would be considered a negative to his Dallas Mavericks franchise or the city of Dallas?

Cuban took over a badly run Dallas Mavericks franchise and turned them into a consistent winner while spending a lot of his own personal money, something not all owners are willing to do. He treats his players in top of the line fashion compared to other basketball owners and is very well liked by the people in the Dallas area.

Yea Cuban is an outspoken type of owner, is very visible at Mavericks games, and overall obviously just isn't a behind the scenes type of professional sports owner than many are. So what though? He's not slimy type of guy and Cuban has proven that he's extremely committed to consistently putting a winning product on the floor of the basketball team he owns even if it means not making a profit or losing money, so what possibly would make you say to this degree, "I sure as heck would not want to see him the owner of the Brewers"?

Before Cuban took over the Mavs, the Mavs may have very well been the worst franchise in NFL, MLB and NBA. What he did to that franchise has been nothing short of phenomenal.

I don't know why people insist that he is.

I think beyond being good for Dallas, he puts a lot of pressure on the NBA to be better as well. The state of officiating is really bad in the NBA, and I am glad someone like Cuban is banging the gong trying to get the league to take action.

I am not sure if this has been posted elsewhere, but I could not find it. Chuck Greenburg, and Nolan Ryan's Group have beat out Mark Cuban for the right to buy the Texas Rangers. Bob Nightengale of USA Today says the winning offer was 385 million, but when you include assumed debt, the price will be just short of 600 million.

I would have liked to see Cuban win the auction, if for nothing else than to have his deep pockets in a bidding war for Fielder. I know next to nothing about Greenburg, but I do not see them being as willing to spend money on a team like Cuban has proven he is more than willing to do with the Mavericks.
